Emboss Resist Technique – Pine Tree Trimmings Bundle

I really loved the colour palette of this card which I created for last month’s Card Creations Series using the Pine Tree Trimmings bundle. The blues created such a calming and alternate look for this bundle.

I started with the gold heat embossed Christmas tree on Watercolour Cardstock. Then I used ink refills to create a wash over the entire tree. This created a beautiful emboss resist effect and I loved how the Balmy Blue and Misty Moonlight ink pooled in sections to create darker areas. The centre of some of the stars just naturally created white space, creating a variation of the Emboss Resist Technique.

I added the Modern Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper on the base which created a stunning contrast. The gold stars on the paper coordinated beautifully with the heat embossed stars.

One of my favourite features on this card is the custom border created from die cutting the present dies from Balmy Blue and Misty Moonlight Cardstock. I love looking for alternate ways to use dies and I think this took some dies, which would normally be more support pieces, and highlighted them.
