How to Effectively Use Your Patterned Paper to Create a Focal Point

I love Designer Series Paper and use it on nearly all my cards. It’s quite rare to find me not adding even a tiny bit on a project. What I love about it is that patterned paper can make a project beautiful without much effort. Our artists create such gorgeous designs to give us beautiful collections to work with.

I have used the sketch from TGIF Challenges #tgifc533 to create this card using the Florals in Bloom Designer Series Paper.

To mimic the diagonal element from the sketch, I tore a piece of Designer Series Paper and layered over it a torn strip of cardstock, which I had embossed with the Pressed Flowers 3D Embossing Folder for added texture and detail.

I fussy cut the flowers from the Designer Series Paper making more use of this beautiful paper, and paired them with die-cut leaves from the Coneflower Celebrations Bundle to create a layered, dimensional arrangement. Using images from the paper make it easy as these are already coloured and shaded and coordinate perfectly with any other products that are used from the suite.

I added a banner using the same patterned paper that peeks out from beneath the embossed panel — a simple way to tie the layers together without introducing a new design. The sentiment, from the Greetings for All Ephemera Pack, was placed over the banner. To finish, I added a few Strawberry Slush Pearls for a pop of colour and a bow from Black Baker’s Twine for texture.
