New at SU Blog Hop - Painterly Pears Birthday Card

There’s nothing quite like a birthday to celebrate someone special and today our New at SU blog hop is going to inspire you with projects for birthdays. I’m using the Painterly Pears Suite which is one of our latest releases in our Online Exclusives range.

At first glance, I wasn’t too sure about this suite – fruit and all! However, now that I have it, I just love it – especially the Painterly Pears Designer Series Paper and with paper so pretty, I wanted to feature a lot of it on my card.

I couldn’t resist this sheet which had such beautiful shading on the pears. As it was rather a busy background, I chose the smaller set of pears (or pair of pears!) to be the focal point. This was stamped in Early Espresso and coloured in with Stampin’ Blends. I also added some shading with Early Espresso, Calypso Coral and Cajun Craze Watercolour Pencils. That little bit of extra colour, gave it such a natural look.

I added this to a set of frames which I die cut using the Stylish Shapes and Perennial Postage Dies. At the back, a strip of the same paper, reverse side, provides a contrast against the background.

The little cross hatch die in the set is a really lovely embellishment and die cutting it from the Tartan Foil provided a subtle texture variation.

I chose the sentiment from my well used, Well Said stamp set. This has basic sentiments in a simple font which I really love and use all the time. Basic Beige ribbon and some Low Profile Dots in Darling Duckling complete my birthday card.
