Fun Ways with Designer Series Paper – Part 6

Today’s fun tip for using our Designer Series Paper is all about texture. I am a huge fan of embossing folders as they add instant texture to projects with very little effort. With a single run through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine Stampin’ Up!’s various embossing folders will create a raised design on your cardstock or DSP.

Emboss it

This sympathy card uses the Peony Garden suite. I embossed a piece of the marbled paper with the Parisian Flourish embossing folder. Add a stamped and die cut image, simple sentiment, ribbon and you’ve got a quick card which has texture to it as well.

The By the Dock stamp set is a really fun set and makes great men’s cards. I created a ripple look for the water theme by running some In Good Taste DSP through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Old World Paper Embossing Folder. The kayak was coloured in Stampin’ Blends with the jetty stamped in Early Espresso on Soft Suede cardstock.

Don’t you just love the little fish in the Artistry Blooms DSP water? I coloured the fish with Stampin’ Blends directly over the Designer Series Paper and the colour showed up well over it.

Stitched Lace Birthday Card with Vellum Flowers #tgifc277

My card today combines several styles and I really love how they all came together. The delicate lace, soft watercolouring and the lines of the triangle, a rather unusual combination, blended well to create this Stitched Lace birthday card.

The Stitched Triangles Dies are going to be well loved in my crafting. I’ve already been using the coordinating Right Triangle stamp set quite a lot and find so much versatility in them.

I die cut the lacy background from regular Whisper White cardstocck and then stamped with the Poppy fill-in stamp using Highland Heather third generation stamping. This means that I stamped off on a scrap paper twice so I got a very faint colour on my cardstock. Then I stamped with Seaside Spray giving the stamp a circular twist while stamping so the image wasn’t defined. I spritzed some water over the colours to give it a watercolour wash look, taking care not to saturate the cardstock. Using a heat gun on Setting 1 speeds up the drying process.

The Plush Poinsettia Vellum DSP creates some beautiful flowers using the Small Bloom punch. I’ve dotted the centres with the Playing with Patterns Resin Dots.

The linen thread is a strand I pulled out from the Tri-colour linen tread in the Flowers for Every Season combo. Once you do this you will still have the silver and white to use on another project.

I’ve been inspired by the sketch challenge at TGIF Challenges #TGIFC277 for this card. All the products I have used for this card are listed below. To order, click on any of the products which will take you to my Online Store.

Double Front Flap Fancy Fold Card

This fancy fold card wasn’t a card for a 110 year old. So what’s your guess?

A friend of mine requested me to make a card for her best friend who was turning 55 but she was a twin. There’s a standard joke between the twins that they are celebrating a combined birthday. So… this year they were 110!

I have made this type of fancy fold card several times but have had no idea what this was called. So I went to the most reliable source – Pinterest! It’s a Double Front Flap Fancy Fold Card. If it’s not, just let me know! This card was for the best friend’s twin. It’s been a little while since I’ve used the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper and the 12″x12″ paper was ideal for decorating this large A5 card. This paper is great for fussy cutting with images of birds, feathers, bird cages – lots to embellish projects with.

The Nested Label on the inside of the card aligns with the label that is on the outside.

For my friend’s best friend, the brief was – she likes irises and labradors. So I hurriedly pulled out a retired iris stamp and got to work. There were several retired products used on this card but I thought it was a bit of fun and I wanted to share it with you. I also used the Happy Tails stamp set and Dog Builder punch which are very cute current products. This was such a cute sentiment for a bestie who loves dogs.

The Designer Series Paper and ribbon are from the 2019 Sale-A-Bration range. Sale-A-Bration 2020 is still on friends. Don’t miss out on the last few weeks where you can get a free product with every $90 order.

Quick Card with Woven Threads Designer Series Paper

Hi crafty friends,

I’ve been a little bit slow in posts these couple of weeks as I’ve been recuperating from surgery and then had to go back into hospital as it wasn’t healing up. As a result I got to spend the most part of my birthday in hospital. I had family and friends who dropped by and made it a very special day for me.

I’m back now with more crafting fun and inspiration for you. Today’s card follows a very simple layout and the star of this card is the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper. I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso on this beautiful DSP which has a lovely textured look to it.  Then I die cut it with a Stitched Label. Stamping on Designer Paper gives you texture without any effort at all.

Stamp on Desginer Series Paper for added texture

The daisies were punched out from 2 other sheets of DSP within the same pack and I distressed it with Early Espresso using a sponge dauber. 3 daisies have been used to create this flower and a Rococo Rose faceted gem added to the centre. Some matching ribbon and this card is complete. A card you can create in minutes.

Step-it-Up Sunday #11 Petal Palette

Welcome to another edition of Step-it-Up Sunday. I hope you have been finding these posts interesting and helpful. Please share with me if you have tried any of these ideas or designs.

Today I used the Petal Palette bundle. This is a beautiful suite of products.  The DSP is classic black and white and can be easily adapted to suit cards for any occasion whether for a male or female.

The Basic card has some simple stamping. The DSP has been over stamped with flowers in So Saffron and Tangerine Tango stamped off twice. The centre panel is from the Color Theory Memories & More Card Pack. These card packs are not only for memory keeping. They are so handy to create ready to go cards in minutes.

For the Intermediate card I have die cut the centre panel with the Lots of Labels dies. I attached this to a label die cut from Crushed Curry cardstock. This is a die set which is so handy for sentiments or focal images as it comes with 7 nesting dies so you get a good range of sizes. I have stamped the bird on Tangerine Tango cardstock and die cut it, along with the flowers and the sentiment.

The advanced card has an added panel behind the Crushed Curry panel. I stamped the Whisper White layer with the large stamp from the Love What You do stamp set in Tangerine Tango, off stamped,  to create a background. Then I embossed this. I created another background piece with the background stamping for the flowers.

I added a tiny bit of liquid glue to the back of the flowers and adhered it to the Tangerine Tango piece and then fussy cut around the flowers.  I die cut a spring of silver leaves and added it to the floral arrangement. To complement the silver leaves, silver ribbon and a flower embellishment has been added. The glitter enamel dots are from the Color Theory suite. Aren’t they gorgeous? They added the perfect finishing touch to the flowers.

The stamp and dies will be carrying over into the new catalogue but not as a bundle. Purchasing it as a bundle saves you 10%. The Petal Passion Designer Series Paper and embellishments are retiring. So if you love these products, get them while you can as once they are gone they won’t be available for reorder.

If you have any questions regarding projects, products or anything else, please send me a message and I will get back to you.

Blessings,

Rochelle
