Happiness is Reading the Christmas Story

When I see this stamp of the child reading a book, I imagine her reading the Christmas story about Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus in Bethlehem. This is such a cute image with the little girl sitting beneath a wreath reading with her dog listening intently, understanding every word.

I CASEd this card from the Holiday catalogue. CASE means to Copy And Share Everything. The Stampin’ Up! catalogues are full of beautiful products but they are also jam packed full of inspiration and ideas which we can copy or use to fuel our imagination. Each page is bursting with different techniques, layouts, products and you can copy it or change parts of it. Sometimes I get into a creative rut and looking at the catalogue can inspire me even with a new colour combination. If you would like an ideas book, please contact me and I will get it out to you in the mail.

Today’s CASE is from Page 15 and I changed some elements of it. I kept the base the same in Crumb Cake but changed the colouring of the image and added some layers of Designer Series Paper to create extra dimension. I drew in the spots on the pyjamas and then was able to match it with the DSP. Lately I have been working with Call Me Clover and am really liking it as a Christmas colour.

The doily has been cut from the Detailed Baubles Thinlits. I got this set mainly because I liked the doily although I do like the baubles too. The lace part doesn’t have a cutting edge so you need to use the nesting die to get the doily cut out. By itself, the lace die gives a nice filigree effect on a card.

So be inspired by the colourful catalogues and get CASEing.

Lots of Happy Card Kit

The Lots of Happy card kit is another one of our discounted products for World Card Making Day which contains everything you need to make 20 cards.

It comes complete with stamps which can be reused and 4 water colour pencils. Two of these, Flirty Flamingo and Lemon Lime Twist, aren’t available in the regular Water Colour pencils pack.

In the photo below I have changed the colours on some of the cards to mix it up a bit. The best part of kits is that all the pieces are already die cut and in an easy to transport box so everything you need is in one place. A great kit to take on holidays with all the fuss taken out of the preparation.

Stamping to Change the Look of Designer Series Paper

We all love Designer Series Paper and I don’t know about you but I feel I have more than I could use in a lifetime. That doesn’t stop me from buying more because I just LOVE the beautiful paper we have and just can’t resist buying all of them.

During September, Stampin’ Up! have a fantastic promotion where you can receive a free pack of the Dashing Along Designer Series Paper *.

One way to use up your paper is by stamping directly onto it which creates a completely different look. The script sheet in this pack is not Christmas text therefore it can be used any time during the year. Here I have stamped the Buffalo Check background stamp in Granny Apple Green to create an alternate look.

The poinsettia has been cut from a sheet of Under the Mistletoe DSP and this is another way to use up your DSP. Sometimes there are just some beautiful images that have got to be the focal image in your card.

The sentiment has been layered onto a Real Red label cut in half to offset it. This card takes about 15 minutes to put together including the cutting and is a very quick card to make.

Creating an Alternate Project with Dashing Along DSP

When I look at our range of Designer Series Paper, I see many different occasions that each one can be used for. The advantage of using double sided paper is the option of 2 sides and if 1 side relates to a particular season or suite, usually the other side is fairly general.

Today’s project uses the Dashing Along Designer Series Paper This is a promotional paper which can be earned free during the month of September with party sales or purchases of $400 prior to shipping. I have used both sides of one sheet to decorate this mini pizza box.

To add colour to the entire box I sprayed it using an aqua painter which was filled with water and a few drops of Daffodil Delight ink refill. I did this before I put the box together. Leave it to dry and then fold all the score lines. The box folds in easily.

The flower was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and then coloured it in with Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. I’ve layered it on a piece of Tea Room DSP and the new Black Foil from the Holiday catalogue. This has been embossed with the Leaf embossing folder. The centre of the flower was coloured with the Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blend and then topped with a Tinted Faceted Button. As the button is transparent, I really wanted the colour to show. When you add the colour to the centre of the flower it makes the colour of the button stand out.

The leaves were punched out using the Lemon Builder punch on the side of the DSP which has the stars on it.

Hope this project inspires you to try out new ways with your Designer Series Paper.
