Engagement card with the Forever Lovely suite

This card was made for an order from a work friend who requested a card for her daughter’s engagement. I have been in a bit of a slump lately. The All My Love Suite was just perfect to create this engagement card to inspire me and give me a starting point with colours. As it was an Engagement card I wanted to create a larger card so I folded a sheet of Blushing Bride cardstock in half to create the A5 card base.

Engagement card using Forever Lovely stamp set by Stampin' Up!,

I die cut the edgelit on Whisper White cardstock which still left it attached to the cardstock but gave those nice cut outs from the flowers. I stamped the leaves in Soft Sea Foam on top of this piece to give a fuller look.  On another piece of Whisper White cardstock the flowers and leaves were stamped. Then this panel of cardstock was adhered behind the die cut panel so the colours showed through. This immediately added the colour.

The extra flower on top was inked in Blushing Bride first. Then using a sponge dauber I added some Lovely Lipstick ink around the edges to give the two-tone effect. For the leaves I used this same method with Soft Sea Foam and Shaded Spruce ink on Soft Sea Foam cardstock. There are matching dies to cut out the flower and leaves and this made it easy to create and add more dimension to that die cut panel.

Colour enamel dots with Stampin' Blends, Forever Lovely suite, Congratulation, Love

The sentiment is from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set. In this set you get 2 sets of stamps and the sentiment fit so many occasions. I especially like the font used which is used in this set. The Epoxy Heart Droplets come clear and you get 72 hearts in 3 different sizes. I coloured these in with the Dark Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blend. I did 3 coats of colour, leaving a bit of drying time between each. The Lovely Lipstick hearts were the perfect finishing touch for my card.

My friend loved the card and that made me so happy because I love sharing my passion of card making and seeing the joy it brings the recipient.

I’ll Love You Until the Day After Forever

Happy Valentine’s day!

What a beautiful sentiment this is for Valentine’s day or any other day to give your loved one. As I write this, I think of my parents, who are passed away.  They were married for 39 years. I also think of Adrian’s Mum and Dad who were married for 54 years. His Dad still talks about his mum with so much love. Isn’t it beautiful to share such a love for so many years?

I just love the Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper and here it is again. The Balmy Blue picks up on the Balmy Blue Flowers in the All My Love paper. I created some layers and frames with the Stitched Rectangle Framelits.

I made a wash with a few drops of rubbing alcohol and Flirty Flamingo ink refill. Using an aqua painter, I brushed this on Shimmery White cardstock. If you haven’t purchased rubbing alcohol before, here’s a photo of what it looks like. When I went to purchase this bottle, I did a few trips up and down the aisles and eventually found it in the medicine aisle.

Once dry, I heat embossed the leaves in white embossing powder and die cut them. I really like the non-green leaves.

I thread the ribbon through the die cut sentiment. The smaller ribbon worked perfectly for this. Do you love this look as much as I do?

Sale-A-Bration is still on so for every $90 spent you earn a free item. Check out all goodies here.

Whatever your plans are for today, I hope you have a very enjoyable day.

Simple Stamping Valentine’s Day Card with Forever Lovely

The Brief:

  • Keep it simple
  • Theme: Valentine’s Day
  • Supplies: Stamps, ink and paper
  • You may use a punch

This was the challenge given to us by Stampin’ Up!® for January #simplestamping

No embossing folders, no ribbons, no embellishments aaaah – this can get a bit tricky for me. I just want to add layers and detail but the whole idea of the #simplestamping challenge is to get everyone involved in this fun activity of stamping and enjoy the creative outlet it provides. It is so much fun and doesn’t have to be time consuming to get fabulous results.

I used to be so afraid of stamps and ink pads until I learned how to do it and it all started with simple projects. Simple doesn’t have to be boring and when you mix our stamps and inks with our gorgeous Designer Series Paper, simple cardmaking still produces beautiful projects.

This card will take you a few minutes to create.  Cover the entire card base with the All My Love DSP. There are lovely sheets of flowers and hearts in this pack and I especially love this sheet.

Stamp the hearts right along the strip of Whisper White cardstock. Stamp the sentiment in Rich Razzleberry. Punch out the Pretty Label punch from Mint Macaron cardstock, cut in half and attach behind the Whisper White panel. Adhere this to the card base.

My first #simplestamping project completed. It took me out of my comfort zone and I’m glad I gave it a go. Watch out for more #simplestamping projects in the next few months. Projects focusing on stamps, ink and paper.
