New at su Blog Hop – Terrific Tags

With just 3 days left to Christmas, the New at SU team have got some last minute gift tag inspiration for you for our last blog hop for the year.

I’ve been busy wrapping gifts with my daughter, Cassidy over the last few days. Our lounge looks like Santa’s workshop (albeit a bit chaotic), with all designs of wrapping paper strewn about and gifts waiting to be embellished. Today, I’ve got some seasonal and non-seasonal tags using the Celebrations Tags dies which are on the Last Chance list and some sneak peeks from our upcoming Mini and Sale-A-Bration catalogues.

For this first project, I created a gift card holder using the Celebrations dies. I’ve added another tag which I cut in half as a layering element from the Dandy Designs Designer Series Paper. This is a free pack of 48 sheets of 12″x12″ paper you can earn during Sale-A-Bration, which begins 5th January. I’ve used the same paper for the front of the gift card holder.

The silver circle is from the Like an Animal Specialty Designer Series Paper which is from the upcoming Mini Catalogue. I coloured the white lines with a Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blend to coordinate with the tag. The snowflake was heat embossed in clear embossing powder 3 times to give it a beautiful glossy finish. A Pastel Pearl ‘button’ coloured with the Dark Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Blend finishes off this sweet gift card holder.

For these gift cards I used some of the beautiful Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue. This is another freebie you can earn and this coordinates with the Fragrant Flowers bundle from the Mini Catalogue.

I fussy cut some of the flowers from the DSP, leaving a border around the edges. The black edge just made those flowers pop.

I added a coordinating strip of DSP around the base of the box which works in well with the gift tag.

Since creating these projects, the Celebrations Tags dies have sold out. The Mini Pocket Envelope Dies would make a good substitute.

Stampers Showcase Blog Hop – Winter Wonderland

Hello and welcome to Stamping Flair in Melbourne, Australia. It’s 12am, 1st of December when this blog hop goes live and we are officially in Summer and so far away from a Winter Wonderland. Our theme for the Stampers Showcase Blog Hop this month is Winter/Holidays.

Stampers Showcase Blog Header Hop Header Hop Header

I immediately wanted to create a winter themed project using the Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper. This paper was brought out last Christmas and it was so popular it was brought out again this Christmas. It’s got beautiful photographic images of wintry, snowy scenery on one side, while the other side is accented with silver foil which is perfect for all year round projects.

I combined this with the Wishes & Wonder Bundle to create a card and gift tag with Blushing Bride adding a lovely shade of pink against the crisp white. It almost feels like a fairytale. I resisted the urge to add some Wink of Stella on that sleigh just in case it looked too much ‘princess carriage’ like.

Stampers Showcase Blog Hop, November 2020, Winter, Holidays, Winter Wonderland, Wishes & Wonder Bundle, Feels Like Frost DSP, Stampin' Up!, SU, Christmas Card, Reindeer, Sleigh

I just had to use the embroidered ribbon from our new catalogue as it added to the rustic, wintry feel of this card.

Thank you for stopping my my blog today. I hope you give these projects a try. All products I’ve used are listed at the bottom of this post. Click on any of the items to go direct to my Online Store.

All I Want for Christmas

I have made it to Day 30 of the #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge and it’s an all encompassing theme of All I Want for Christmas. I apologize in advance if you now have Mariah Carey singing in your head all day long! You have 2 more months of that to go!! I quite like that song but I digress. Back to the fun stuff of cardmaking.

What would I like to receive as a Christmas card? I love all types. I love Christmas cards that tell the story of Jesus’ birth by the nativity scene or a Bible verse, I love vintage scenes with ice skaters amidst the twinkling Christmas lights, I love a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, I love cute and cuddly deer, I love wreaths, foliage and poinsettia. You’re probably getting the idea … I have a wide range of Christmas cards that I love.

My earliest memories of Christmas cards that really took me into a fairytale world were back when I was in Sri Lanka and our friends in England used to send us such beautiful Christmas cards which nearly always had a scene with snow and there was always glitter to make the season just that more sparkly. So today, my card draws on a little bit of all my favourite memories.

I chose the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper for my base and tag combining it with other elements from the Snowflake Splendor Suite Collection to create this card. I started off with the tag and then worked out all the other bits and pieces around it.

By tearing a piece of Whisper White cardstock and DSP I was able to add a rustic touch to this card which otherwise had clean lines. I embossed the torn piece of cardstock with the Winter Snow Embossing Folder, sponging it with Misty Moonlight ink.

The Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper is so pretty and die cut with the foliage die it adds just the right amount of Christmas sparkle. I added some extra silver leaves die cut from the beautiful Feels Like Frost Designer Series Paper. This DSP was brought out in our last Christmas catalogue and was so popular that it has been brought back this time. With photographic images of snow and ice on one side and silver foil on the other, this is a luxurious paper suitable even for weddings and other occasions.

PLEATED STRIP

  • Cut a strip of paper 2cm wide (or whatever width you prefer)
  • Use Paper Trimmer to score at 2cm, 3cm, 5cm, 6cm (so your first gap is at 2cm and the second gap is 1cm from there, then 2cm and so on)
  • Valley fold and Mountain fold your score lines to form a pleat
  • Burnish well using a Bone Folder
  • Add Tear n’ Tape to the back to hold together as this makes it easier to work with

During October you can get the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper for $17 giving you 12 sheets of 12″x12″ double-sided papers. You can view all the papers on sale by clicking the image below.

I have come to the end of the #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge and I hope you have enjoyed my creations. You can search for the challenge in the Search Bar to find all my cards I created for this challenge. My thanks goes to Martin Stone at Martin’s Mayhem for the opportunity to participate in this. It has been super fun and definitely got me out of my comfort zone at times. You will want to check out Martin’s cards for this challenge as they are awesome.

New at SU Blog Hop – Feeling Festive

Hello and welcome to our New at SU Blog Hop for October. We are feeling festive and for us in the Southern Hemisphere it’s halfway through Spring which means not long for Christmas. So I’ve created some projects with Christmas festivities in mind.

New at SU Blog Hop, Header

I used the largest die in the Celebration Labels to cut out the card base. Then I scored it in half to form a note card. These note cards would make great little greeting cards or they could be used as a cute gift card to accompany a lovely Christmas present.

Using the next size in the dies to cut the Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper. I’ve been using these papers so much as I love the mix of colours in it. During October, you can order the Plaid Tidings DSP and a range of other papers at 15% off. See the full list here.

I decorated the note cards with elements from the Flowers for Every Season Memories & More Card Pack, even using the sentiments from it. Memories & More Cards offer a quick and easy creative alternative. You can use it for scrapbooking, cardmaking, decorating 3D projects, home decor – anything really. They come in a variety of card sizes, specialty cards (in some cases) and sticker sheets.

Make a batch of these note cards and decorate them for various occasions using the Flowers for Every Season Memories & More Card Pack. With images, sentiments and stickers to cover a variety of occasions you will be able to get several of these made in no time. Bundle a few of these together to make a great Christmas present.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today. I hope these projects have inspired you to look at using your dies in alternate ways. Next on our hop is Jeannette Gauthier. Click on the Next Blog button to view her lovely work.
