Create Beautiful Blended Backgrounds with Blending Brushes

I’m sharing a card today which I created to have this beautiful image from the Enjoy the Moment stamp set stand out. I wanted a simple yet striking card. Creating an effective background can really make a stamped image just pop.

I started off by using Shimmery White cardstock and the oh-so-soft Blending Brushes. First thing you do with these when you get them, rub them on your hands – or your face! Just because you won’t be able to stop yourself. They are super soft. Then you craft with them!

I blended all the greens, starting with Soft Sea Foam, Granny Apple Green and Just Jade, Then I spritzed the cardstock with water. This created a lovely stippled look. Once completely dry, I stamped the image.

I cut 2 frames from Very Vanilla Cardstock using the Stitched Rectangles Dies and glued them together to add more depth around my stamped image. A sentiment heat embossed in White on Early Espresso cardstock adds a striking contrast against the blended greens.

Stamp ‘n Hop – Sale-A-Bration/Mini Catalogue

Hello and welcome to Stamping Flair in Melbourne. I’m blog hopping with other Stampin’ Up! demonstrators and we are creating mainly with brand new products from the January – June Mini Catalogue and the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue.

Sale-A-Bration is a very exciting time for us crafters because it means we can add more stash for FREE into our craft collections! Any order over $90 which you place until the 28th February will earn you a free product from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue. So the more you buy, the more free products you earn. Exciting right?

I’ve chosen to work with the gorgeous Forever and Always bundle and give a twist on the colours which are part of this suite. I absolutely love the entire suite and the colours are so me. Pink and natural colours … so good. However, I like to try some different colours. The black and white colour combination of the True Love Designer Series Paper is so striking and can work with so many colours and projects.

The flowers from the Forever and Always stamp set are just so beautiful and they don’t even need to be coloured in to create a lovely focal point.

I hope this project inspires you to get in the craft room and get creative. Thank you so much for stopping by and please continue the hop by visiting the talented Laura Mackie by clicking on the Next Blog button.

All orders placed receive a handmade card and PDF tutorial for the month. Orders over $90 also qualify for a Sale-A-Bration reward until 16th March.

All orders receive a handmade card and PDF tutorial. Orders over $90 receive a Tutorial Bundle for the month with 36 tutorials.

Please use Host Code for all orders under $250. If your order is over $250 then don’t use the Host Code as you will get your own Stampin’ Rewards.

If your order exceeds $169 then our Starter Kit gives you your choice of $235 worth of products for only $169 with free shipping and an ongoing 20-25% discount.

aWow Blog Hop – Something New, Something Old

AWOW Blog Hop Header

Welcome to the final Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop for 2020. It definitely has been aWOW year with lots of fun themes and projects to hop through. Thanks to Angie Mackenzie for inviting me to be be part of this team and for leading and organizing this blog hop so well. We are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators representative of the Stampin’ Up! markets around the world. It’s sometime Wednesday in each of the time zones we are from when this blog hop goes live.

Our theme this month is Something New, Something Old with a focus on the brand new year of 2021 that is approaching us. I have used some products from the Fine Art Floral Suite which is a brand new product from the January – June Mini Catalogue. That covers my ‘new’. For the ‘old’ I have gone back to basics. Somewhere we all began when we first started out stamping – Simple Stamping. I’ve shown 3 versions of this card, each time stepping it up.

Beginner

This card is a quick make and would be great for someone who is new to stamping or if you need a card in a hurry, I stamped the flowers in Sahara Sand on the Sahara Sand card base. This provides some interest to a plain card while still keeping it simple and quick to make.

A panel of Designer Series Paper and Mossy Meadow cardstock add interest to this simple card. The Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper is gorgeous and will coordinate with several colours. When I want to create quick cards I always reach for our DSP as it gives me beautiful cards with minimal effort plus being double sided, it gives more choice.I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy, punched out with the Classic Label punch and cut the ends at an angle to match my ribbon.

Casual

This card was stepped up by die cutting the centre panels and the sentiment as well. I also added some Antique Corner embellishments which can be found in the Annual Catalogue.

Avid

For this final card I used the Stamparatus to stamp the bouquet of flowers in Balmy Blue, Terracotta Tile and Mossy Meadow.

To make the flowers stand out against the DSP, I added a label from the Stitched so Sweetly Dies. This has been embossed with the Wrapped in Texture Embossing Folder which is retiring and that formed another part of my ‘old’ theme.

As I completed this card the Best Wishes sentiment tied in with another way I did think of our theme this month. Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue … I think this would make a lovely wedding card (it even has some Balmy Blue in it!). The Art Gallery suite is going to capture you with it’s Gilded Leafing and Golden Acetate sheets. You can find it from pages 32-24 of your new Mini Catalogue.
