The image that came to mind when I saw this Cosy Christmas theme was immediately this barn from the retired Christmas Barn stamp set. It shows warmth and is so inviting.
This card started with a piece of the striped Misty Moonlight DSP which I had layered on Basic White. Planning to use it on a project a while back, it didn’t suit but it worked with this one and I was able to add my pieces around it.
I used some Watercolour Pencils to colour areas of the barn so that the beautiful detail of the stamped image could be seen. For the wreath I used the Direct to Stamp colouring technique with Stampin’ Write Markers.
The barn image could be replaced with the Shop the Town stamp set #162068 which coordinates with the Les Shoppes dies #161777. This set is currently on our Last Chance list for $33.60 (was $42).
The trees from the same bundle were layered, so that it looks like they are around the property. I added some scrap Pecan Pie Cardstock pieces which look a bit like a fence and work well with the design. Of course, this card just had to have Linen Thread to make it complete.
I hope you have enjoyed my #nostalgicnovember with a delve into my archives. My blog posts will continue through December (with cards I’m creating this month for this challenge and others). I’ve got loads to share.
I’m having a load of fun with the #30DayChristmasCardmakingChallenge and #nostalgicnovember and really enjoying stretching my creative thinking. This sketch was a bit tricky at first but I just had to get those circles out of my head before the ideas started coming through.
I flipped the sketch to be horizontal and it worked for the design I was going for. I used the gift die from the Sending Cheer bundle for the sides. The label from the Merriest Trees dies was lined with the Dark Pool Party Stampin’ Blend to create the stripes. I did this free hand and liked the fun look it gave to the main image which is from the retired Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set.
I added a heat embossed sentiment in silver and some sparkly gems for the snowy look. The large snowflake is a retired embellishment which I had in my stash and it just fits perfectly with this card don’t you think?

There’s just something about the Christmas in the Making stamp set that makes me happy. The nostalgic images just bring a smile to my face and this particular image with the cat was perfect for our No Peeking day for the 30 Day Christmas Cardmaking Challenge.
The lady looks like she is holding that present well away from the cat who is giving it ‘the look’ and wants to just get into it. Coloured with Stampin’ Blends this image comes to life. For a muted background with a subtle pattern I used the Hello, Irresistible Designer Series Paper.
The sentiment is from another retired stamp set, Oh What Fun and I just had to dig out the Cable Knit Embossing Folder as it just tied in with the whole scene.
This evening I send out my main weekly newsletter with a free tutorial. If you haven’t signed up already, you can do so HERE. I look forward to seeing you through the week for more #30DayChristmasCardmakingChallenge fun!
Thanks for stopping by and have a Blessed Sunday.
