Merry Christmas Poinsettia DL Card

I love the look of poinsettias and they make me feel all ‘Christmasy’ – not long to go now. The Peaceful Poinsettia bundle has varying stamps and dies and on todays card I have used only the dies and teamed it with the Merry Christmas to all bundle. This bundle is versatile with tons of greetings which can be swapped around and dies to mix and match like I have done here.

For the poinsettia, I die cut the flower but instead of taking all the pieces out, I left them in. It tends to stay in it’s place until pressed out with a Big Shot Die Brush so you’re pretty safe. I would recommend you put a piece of Double Sided Adhesive Sheet on the back of the cardstock before die cutting. This was a project that evolved when I die cut the flower. I liked how it looked with all the die cut pieces in so I just had to use liquid glue and that was a bit tricky. So hopefully this tip helps you. This needs to be attached to a whole base flower then mounted onto the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Gold Metallic pearls have been added to the centre. These pearls are a lovely muted gold so they tone in well.

The Designer Series Paper is from All is Bright and has photography on one side and designs on the other.  One banner has been punched from DSP and the other from Crumb Cake Cardstock and embossed with the Subtle Embossing folder. This folder gives a very fine impression but adds beautiful texture. It reminds me of linen.

With the sentiment, which is from the Merry Christmas to All bundle,  I find it easier to stamp the border first and then fit it the sentiment.

Hope you are enjoying the projects from the new catalogue. If you would like a copy or want to learn more, please contact me.

Peaceful Poinsettia Two Ways Using Stampin’ Blends

Have you had a chance to look through the brand new Holiday Catalogue yet? If you have, I’m sure you will agree that it is filled with amazing goodies for Christmas and other occasions. If you haven’t, you will definitely want to take a little time – who am I kidding – a lot of time – and look through it. From the traditional to the not so traditional, some whimsical and modern – there’s plenty for every crafter.

I’ve been experimenting with the Peaceful Poinsettias bundle. Traditionally a Christmas plant and used to decorate homes, staircases and tables, this bundle has varying poinsettias in different arrangements and includes border dies which are great to enhance your cards.

Frosted Floral Card

Normally a poinsettia is red but my imaginary poinsettia is Blackberry Bliss. I really wanted to use the beautiful Frosted Floral Designer Series Paper. It has a pearlescent shimmer on all the pages and is really beautiful. I think it’s the prettiest in the catalogue, so of course my poinsettia had to match.

The flower was coloured in Blackberry Bliss and the leaves in Mint Macaron Stampin’ Blends and then die cut. This has been layered on a panel of Whisper White cardstock which has been embossed with the Swirls and Curls embossing folder. I’ve been using this folder a lot as it’s a great background.

The sentiment has been punched with the Everyday Label punch and trimmed down. It’s been set on the silver Chicken Wire. These come in sheets and you get 6 in a pack. I’ve cut one of these sheets down to create the backing for the sentiment.

Dashing Along Card

The next card uses the Dashing Along Designer Series Paper as the background. This DSP can be earned free with a qualifying party of $400 during the month of September. If you have a group of friends who would like to get together and create something, then you have the opportunity to get this in addition to your Host Rewards. We could plan a Christmas themed party to get your supplies for Christmas cards and tags. Whatever you like.  Contact me for further information.

The Poinsettia has been coloured in Cherry Cobbler and the leaves in Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. I edged the image with Crumbed Cake ink using a sponge dauber. The Delicate Detailed Lace Paper has been attached with a bit of glue at the top and bottom and some behind the flower so it is hidden.

The sentiment was from Nature Sings and a little bit of liquid glue has been added to tuck it behind the flower.

Two different versions of a card using the same stamp. Which one do you prefer? Would love to hear your opinions.
