Perched in a Tree – 30 Day Christmas Cardmaking Challenge

For the Day 22 colour combo of the 30 Day Christmas Cardmaking Challenge, I pulled out one of my favourites and therefore well-used stamp sets – Perched in a Tree. This little bird has provided me hours of creativity and for this card I chose to watercolour it to add some subtle colour.

Watercolouring is such a relaxing technique and what I love about it is that every image will turn out different making each creation unique. I coloured the bird in a combination of Fresh Freesia and Lost Lagoon.

You can get all the tips on how to colour this bird and assemble the card in my YouTube tutorial linked below.

Cup of Christmas – 30 Day Christmas Cardmaking Challenge

#30DayChristmasCardmakingChallege, 2023, Day 12 Far too Merry, Cup of Christmas Stamp set

This card was so much fun to create for the #30DayChristmasCardmakingChallenge . I don’t know what my favourite part was – the cloud cream, the timber cinnamon quills, dusting of hot chocolate or just the warmth and cosy feeling this card exudes.

#30DayChristmasCardmakingChallege, 2023, Day 12 Far too Merry, Cup of Christmas Stamp set, Christmas Card with cocoa mugs, Foursquare Decorative Masks

I used the Cup of Christmas stamps and dies which is a retired set however the Gift of Giving stamp set would be a suitable alternative to create a similar look.

For the cinnamon quills, I die cut the candy cane from Pecan Pie Cardstock 3 times, embossed each panel with the Timber Embossing Folder and layered the candy canes together. Then I added some depth with Early Espresso ink.

The cloud punch is the perfect shape for some frothy cream and I added some chocolate dusting with the dots from the Perched in a Tree stamp set. I stamped and dabbed (my technical term!) the stamp to creat a bit of a mottled look across the cream.

Perched in a Tree Day 27 – 30 Day Christmas Cardmaking Challenge

When I saw this colour combo for a Christmas card, my first thought was, ‘what on earth’? Yet again, the #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge has me thinking outside the box and I’m really pleased with my final creation which uses my favourite Perched in a Tree bundle.

I coloured the bird with a combination of Stampin’ Blends and Watercolour Pencils as the pencils didn’t have a Petal Pink. This combination colouring came out really well and love how the bird turned out.

The sentiment was heat embossed in Gold and then I used the Aspen Dies to cut out the leaf. Those cute Gold Holly Leaves are discounted on our Last Chance list and you can get them for $5.30 (originally $13.25) while supplies last – bargain!

The Perched in a Tree bundle will carryover however products will be sold individually. You can currently get it at a bundle price which will save you 10%.

Blue Bird for Colour Inkspiration #ci132

I’m playing along with the Colour Inkspirations Challenge CI132. With the accompanying photo, it was hard not to go along with the beachy theme.

Instead I went with what seems to be my next favourite, the bird from the Perched in a Tree stamp set. I heat embossed the image in Silver and then coloured it in with Watercolour Pencils. I used colours that were similar to the challenge for this part of my card.

With the sentiment banner I really wanted to add a bit of a floral image so I went with the Fitting Florets collection. I coloured the image with Tahitian Tide, Orchid Oasis and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.

In this photo you can see the pretty Snowflake Vellum oval which adds a lovely soft touch behind the bird.

Thank you for stopping by and make sure to come by later when I’ll have another card for you for Day 7 of the #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge.

Sketchtember Challenge – Day 17 Perched in a Tree

Welcome to Day 17 of my Sketchtember Challenge and today I’m watercolouring. This is one of my favourite techniques. Today is also the last day to get freebies with my ordering special.

My card has been inspired by the colour palette at the Colour Inkspirations Challenge #129

I watercoloured the bird using Basic Gray, Starry Sky and Mango Melody with the 2 smaller Water Painters. Then I fussy cut it and layered it onto a bird die cut from Basic Black Cardstock to create a shadow effect.

The Organic Beauty background die cut was matted onto a White card panel to which I added the stamped diagonal White panel across.

Between the top and bottom panels I added 3 strips of Cardstock (I used scrap pieces for this). This added depth and contrast while still keeping the tone-on-tone look. Around this I added the Silver Mesh Ribbon which I folded in half to fit on this narrow strip. I couldn’t go past those Basic Gray Matte Dots to intersperse with the silver embossing to add the finishing touch to this card.

Looking forward to catching up with you tomorrow.
