Today I’m playing along with the Global Design Project Challenge #gdp412 CASE the designer project. We are CASEing a card by Wilma de Korte from the the Netherlands.
To CASE means to Copy and Selectively Edit any part of the card whether it’s layout, colours, themes, stamp set. I’ve copied the layout of Wilma’s card creating a houndstooth background with the Abundant Beauty Decorative mask.
The frame was blended in Real Red and then I added Gilded Leafing with Liquid Glue dotted in sections. This was mounted using Foam Adhesive Sheets cut into thin strips.
On this I added the apples, coloured in with a variety of Stampin’ Blends and cut out using the scalpel tip from the Take Your Pick Crafters Tips. This was great to get inbetween all the leaves so that the background was visible.
The sentiment was stamped on the Delightful Floral Designer Series Paper which was also used as one of the matte layers. To stabilise the sentiment I added 3 layers of scrap cardstock under it before mounting it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Hello and welcome to our new at SU Blog Hop. Get ready to be dazzled with our Shine, Shimmer & Glow theme featuring products from the September – December Mini Catalogue. If it’s your first time here I’m so glad that you have visited me over in Melbourne. I’m a bit crazy for all things Christmas so I’ve created a Christmas card today.
My featured product is the Snowflake Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper. This shiny metallic paper comes with 2 each of 3 designs in the pack.
I’m not one to use a lot of shimmery products on a project so for this card I combined the shiny paper with some neutrals for something more my style. I have used the silver/white sheet from the the Snowflake Magic DSP on my card and blended Lost Lagoon and Pool Party ink over it. This is a fun way to customise this paper to any project.
The tree is from the Merriest Trees bundle and I inked it up in Pool Party then added some Pretty Peacock on the bottom of the stamp to create the varying colours.
For the silver trim on the tree I experimented and applied liquid glue along the edges then poured Silver Embossing Powder over and heat embossed it. I was quite please that it turned out! Sometimes you’ve just got to give something a go- if it goes wrong, no problem but if it goes right, there’s a fun technique to use again.

Hello friend, Welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday blog hop where every second Wednesday of the month we travel from New Zealand to Hawaii for some creative inspiration with our lovely team. This month’s theme is Let’s Take a Walk, so come with me for a walk and see where each of us stroll through.
I’m taking a walk down memory lane with my dear mum as my inspiration today. Back to the days where she is used to work in a radio broadcasting company called Back to the Bible Broadcast in Sri Lanka. She played the piano for the music department and she also corrected the English Bible correspondence courses there. I remember visiting her office many times and it was like one big family. As a child, all the adults were so kind and treated me like one of their own children and I still keep in touch with some of these people.
In my mum’s office she had a typewriter and my card has been inspired by that. Of course, the Just My Type stamp set was the perfect choice. This could be the reason I purchase every typewriter stamp set that comes out! Ironically, my father was a very speedy typist as well. At home, I remember mum typing letters on the old aerogramme paper and then she’d have carbon paper inbetween so she could keep a copy of it. Carbon paper – now that seems like a lifetime ago!
To create this card I watercoloured the background with Bubble Bath, Moody Mauve and Calypso Coral. The ink was left to pool heavier in certain areas as I wanted a deeper colouring. Moody Mauve, to my surprise, has been the colour I’ve used the least from our new In-Colours. I actually thought this would be my go-to but it hasn’t been like that. Using it extensively on this card may possibly be the turning of the corner for me with this colour.
Once the watercolouring was dry, I stamped some smaller flowers in Moody Mauve on top on the right side. Although the images blend in, I really like the faint images of the flowers you can still see in the background.
The note pad paper was scrunched up for a textured finish. The main flower was inked up in Bubble Bath and then I added some Moody Mauve with a Sponge Dauber in the centre.
To break up the pinks I added some Soft Sea Foam leaves. As this card is a memory of my time spent with my mum, I added the panel at the back which was embossed with the Merry Melody Embossing Folder to depict her musical talent.

For those who have been following me a while, you know I love a sea themed stamp set. For our August Class in the Mail I’ve chosen the Beauty of the Deep bundle and paired it with the Let’s go Fishing Designer Series Paper for a nautical themed class.
In this class you will get to create 4 detailed cards which have lots of texture and layers and I share with you tips and techniques to step up your cardmaking. The cards are all designed so you can get to the fun part of creating. Of course, you can change it up as well to suit your creativity.

As this stamp set is an image-only set, I have added the sentiments from other stamp sets. You can substitute any of these products with others you already own. However, if you wish to complete the cards as per my samples, you will require the products listed below and basic cardmaking tools.

What a beautiful colour palette I get to create with today, inspired by the colours at the Global Design Project Challenge #gdp405. I’ve featured the Nested Friends stamps and dies on this card. These products are part of our Online Exclusive products and are exclusively available in our Online Store.
I used the Simply Scored Tool and scored the Basic White Cardstock at 1cm intervals to create the background.
The bird was coloured in with Boho Blue and Wild Wheat Stampin’ Blends. Usually I would have added some lighter colours in there to blend it but as this was a colour challenge I had to find another way. So, I used a Blender Pen to add some Boho Blue ink refill to soften and blend the colour and achieved the look I was going for.
Although a Blender Pen is generally used on watercolour paper, used in small amounts, ensuring there is sufficient drying time, it works fine on Basic White Cardstock.
Frames die cut from Fresh as a Daisy Designer Series Paper bring all the colours together, while a layer cut out from the same paper pack provides a textured Boho Blue matte layer. The Brushed Metallic Dots tone in with the Pebbled Path elements of my card and it’s one of my favourite embellishments.
