Welcome to the CASEing the Catty Challenge CTC474 and today the Design Team are CASEing any technique from the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue. Our Catalogue is filled with techniques on every page. Some techniques we may even use daily. For me, ink blending, colouring and some fussy cutting is generally something I would use all the time.

To CASE means to Copy and Selectively Edit a project which means you can copy the project as is or be inspired by elements of the project to make it your own. Each week the CASEing the Catty Crew share inspiration through our blog hop and then through the week you can submit your project to our FB group.

I’m CASEing the Distressing technique on this card. It’s a simple technique which gives a lovely rustic look.

On my card I tore several pieces of paper and laid them together for an organic paper-pieced effect. This is another fun technique to try. To get that nice white edge, make sure you tear the paper forwards. I blended some Crumb Cake ink on some of the edges and on parts of the Country Woods Designer Series Paper for a more distressed look.

This was the first time I was using the Seaside Wishes bundle and my unusual colour palette was inspired by a fun craft game show that I watch called Craft Roulette. The colours it called for was ‘salad’ colours so my blending was based on an Asian noodle salad with purple cabbage, red and yellow capsicums, chilli and cucumber.

There’s inspiration all around us and I certainly didn’t think I could have come up with a seaside card using these colours … that was until I started playing with them. It’s so much fun to experiment with different colour palettes and techniques.

The embossing folder that is part of this bundle is a hybrid embossing folder which allows you to die cut the images at the same time you are embossing the Cardstock. This is what I did to get those lovely details on the sand dollars. Each of the die cuts were blended with a combination of 2 colours.

On the base of the card I added a layer of Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper. With one side being scenic, I have found that I’m using a lot of the reverse side which has background wash designs so it works well with lots of projects.

I added a heat embossed sentiment on Black Cardstock for a pop against the rich colours of the background.

I hope you have been inspired with this project and give one of these techniques a try. You can add the Seaside Wishes bundle to your stash while it’s on sale until 30th June for $74.25 (discounted from $83.50). Product list and Online Store details are listed at the end of this post.

Follow our hop through by going through to visit Julia Quinn to see what technique she’s sharing with you. I look forward to seeing your entry in our FB group.
