For today’s card I’ve been inspired by the Colour Challenge at Just Add Ink with a beautiful colour palette of Mint Macaron, Fresh Freesia and Starry Sky.
I went bold by blending Starry Sky on Basic White Cardstock for my matte layer. A wave and some dots were heat embossed in white to compliment the shell. I used my Stamparatus (our stamp positioning tool) to stamp the wave as I only wanted to stamp part of the image and it allowed me to re-stamp should I have needed to.
The shell was watercoloured with Fresh Freesia and Starry Sky. I inked up a Clear Block which acted as my palette. I find that this method gives me more control for watercolouring.
The leaves were coloured with Mint Macaron Stampin’ Blends, providing a soft contrast against the bold background.
If you would like to get started with watercolouring, I’ve put together a pack that gets you the basics. It’s a great time to get started with July being World Watercolouring Month. This pack is customisable to suit your crafting needs. Click on the image to order and amend as required.
If you have any questions about the project I’ve shared please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.

The Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper is sooo much fun. It just makes you feel like a child again with the cute and colourful houses. I chose it for this card sketch challenge in Martin’s Mayhem #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge I think this year I’m going to be well ahead of my cardmaking for Christmas … I hope!
Card sketches are a lot of fun to work with and I did switch this around a bit, putting the sentiment to the left. Sketches are there to give you a starting point and you can even flip them to give you a totally different look.
I watercoloured a label from Hippo & Friends dies in Balmy Blue using a water painter. Then I stamped the stars in Balmy Blue while the cardstock was still a bit damp so it gave it a less defined edge.
I fussy cut several houses from the DSP sheets. The trees from the Coming Home stamp set were stamped in Gray Granite, then using the plaid tree from Perfectly Plaid stamp set I stamped over the image to create the pattern.
This whole scene just has the look of a cute, fairytale like, Christmas village. I’m sure you have seen me use the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper several times. With it’s fun colours and images, I have really enjoyed creating both Christmas and non-Christmas projects with it.

Day 11 in the #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge had us thinking about the flowers that surround us throughout the Christmas season. I couldn’t go past the Poinsettia Petals bundle and created some water coloured poinsettias for this challenge.
I die cut the 3 sizes of petals from Shimmery White cardstock and water coloured them using Real Red and Cherry Cobbler ink. Generally, I would use ink refills for this technique however, this time I inked up a Clear Block and used it like a palette.
Once I had painted my flowers I wanted a corner flourish for it to sit on so I used the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set to create this pretty corner.
A few silver stems and adds a lovely festive look to coordinate with the metallic-edge bow on top.

Are you glad it’s the weekend? I definitely am. I’ve had a lovely craft class yesterday making some Christmas projects. We even celebrated a birthday and had birthday cake. The rest of this weekend I will be preparing for the Craft Alive show in Morwell which runs from Friday to Sunday next week.
I’ve been inspired by a couple of challenges for this card. I started off with the Just Add Ink Challenge of Just Add “H” – this could be a technique, stamp set, background, object.
These challenges always makes me feel like I need to browse through a dictionary because I want to pick something unusual. Flipping through my stamp sets, I came across the Tea Together stamp set and my brain just went “High tea”. So there you have it – my “H” component.
My layout was inspired by the Inspire.Create. Stamping Challenge sketch which provided so many possibilities. Sketches are great to work with as it gives your project some direction to go in.
To start off, I stamped the images on Shimmery White cardstock. I stamped off on scrap paper first and then stamped the image to have a lighter outline. This is my first attempt at some no-line watercolouring. Using an Aqua Painter and ink refills, I added Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green and a little bit of Pretty Peacock to highlight the images blending the stamped outline. I left the layers to dry a little between colours. To get a nice water colour look, create a wash with the colours so they are not intense but instead a bit runny.
Leave the images to dry and make sure it’s completely dry by using your heat tool. Then run them through the die cutting machine. I masked the bottom of the images with post-it-notes and stamped the leaf image – once in full strength and once second stamping. I love how this little tea set turned out.
The Gray Granite Designer Series Paper is from the Come to Gather pack and is one of those sheets that could get lost among the darker, Autumn colours in this pack. It’s what I call, a hidden gem – something that could be missed in the catalogue . As we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia it’s easy to flick past some of these pages. These papers are beautiful and there are some sheets in neutral shades which are great for so many projects.
Finally I added the Balmy Blue Gingham from our Subtles Designer Series Pack and some of the Gray Granite Textured Ribbon. The sentiment is from the Host stamp set – Time for Tags and I’ve die cut it with the tag from the Cup of Cheer dies. I’ve stamped the tag with the frame stamp from Very Versailles which is a lovely set to add texture to your cards.
Now all I need are my scones and chicken and cucumber sandwiches!

I’m pairing this cute bunny with the beautiful Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper which is part of the Buy 3 get 1 free offer on DSP. This promotion runs until 30th September.
Various sheets of the DSP have been used to create the different layers on this card. The flower is also part of the DSP and there is a Die in the set which cuts that out to make life easy for us.
I stamped the bunny in Early Espresso onto Shimmery White cardstock and coloured the image with Early Espresso, Crushed Curry and Flirty Flamingo Water Colour pencils and used a Blender Pen to smooth the colour out. I also added a bit of Bermuda Bay to the sky by taking my Blender Pen direct to the pencil and brushing the colour on lightly.
All dimensions and products that I have used to create this card are listed below. You can purchase any of these from my Online Store by clicking on any of the images.
