Pumpkin Pie – it’s one of those colours that hasn’t had a lot of love from me. Do you find you have some colours like that? The time had to come with our Monochromatic Insta Hop where we featured the beauty of Pumpkin Pie.
A guitar from the Rock Star bundle was perfect with this colour. I stamped it in Stazon ink on Fluid 100 Cardstock and watercoloured it with Pumpkin Pie ink refill and a Water Painter. This allowed me to get different variations of the colour.
The sentiment was stamped on a piece of Cardstock which I had in my ‘spare parts’ pile. Last week I created a background with Pumpkin Pie using one of our masks but I really wasn’t feeling anything creative with it. So I set it aside for another time and this project was it.
The Country Woods Designer Series Paper used in the background is a new release from the upcoming Annual Catalogue. I blended Pumpkin Pie ink over it to coordinate with our theme.
To create the lightning bolts, I blended Pumpkin Pie ink over a piece of the Calypso Coral DSP from the Hello, Irresistible pack. After die cutting these, I heat embossed each one in Clear Embossing Powder 4 times to create an embellishment.
I coordinated the musical theme with embossing using the Merry Melody Embossing Folder and some music notes from the Sweet Songbirds stamp set. Both these products and the Rock Star bundle and coordinating suite are retiring. Make sure you add them to your stash if you love some music themed projects.

For the Day 22 colour combo of the 30 Day Christmas Cardmaking Challenge, I pulled out one of my favourites and therefore well-used stamp sets – Perched in a Tree. This little bird has provided me hours of creativity and for this card I chose to watercolour it to add some subtle colour.
Watercolouring is such a relaxing technique and what I love about it is that every image will turn out different making each creation unique. I coloured the bird in a combination of Fresh Freesia and Lost Lagoon.
You can get all the tips on how to colour this bird and assemble the card in my YouTube tutorial linked below.

This card was inspired by a card I saw one of the Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team members create. I loved the colours and the watercolour effect on it.
This is a really fun and easy technique to replicate and creates beautiful results. Using Stampin’ Write Markers I coloured directly on the stamp. As these markers are water based, the stamp will easily clean off after this process. Huff on the stamp with your breath to activate the ink and stamp the image on the label.
Spritzing the label lightly with water before and after stamping gives the image the watercoloured look.
The striped Pebbled Path Designer Series Paper provides a neutral background to bring out the beauty of these flowers. Did you know we have standard packs of 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Papers in each of our colour ranges?
Each pack has the same 4 patterns. So a total of 50 colours to coordinate with any project. These are particularly great for when you want something to tone in and not too busy yet with a bit of a pattern.
If you would like to create this card you can contact me for details and I’d be happy to help you.
