Colour Inspiration Challenge CI209 – Guest Designer

Hello and welcome to my blog . If you are new here, I’m glad you have stopped by. Today, I’m excited to share a project inspired by the Colour Inkspiration Challenge CI209. I have been invited to be a guest designer for the challenge this week and I’m so pleased to be a part of it.

Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at 5 pm AEST, the Colour Inkspiration crew upload projects inspired by a new colour palette. Anyone is welcome to participate in the challenge by uploading a photo of their project to the Colour Inkspiration FB Group HERE.

This was a colour palette that pushed me a little out of my comfort zone. Why? You may ask. Well, Garden Green is not my go-to green for starters . Then add Gorgeous Grape which is another colour I don’t use that often, so it was a lot of fun to put these colours together and see what I come up with!

My design began with the note paper die cuts using the Extraordinary Life Bundle which is one of my favourite products from this catalogue. I die cut one layer from the Valley in Bloom Designer Series Paper and the second layer from Garden Green Two-Tone Cardstock. This was embossed with the Laydbug Picnic 3D Embossing Folder and then sanded back.

I really love the hand written font on this sentiment and used the Stampin’ Positioner to stamp my sentiment several times to achieve a crisp and darker image.

I watercoloured a piece of Watercolour Cardstock with Gorgeous Grape ink refill. While this suspiciously looks like Fresh Freesia, I promise you it’s Gorgeous Grape! Watercolouring with a stronger colour, softens it, and for my card, this worked really well.

On the base card, I applied a rough layer of Embossing Paste which was coloured with Basic Beige ink refill for a tone-on-tone look. This created beautiful texture without adding more patterns or design to the card while providing interest in the backgroud.

For the focal element I clustered some die cut Garden Green leaves, a hexagon die cut from the Scenic Coast DSP and topped it with my watercoloured butterfly. A few splatters with the Peaceful Pine Stampin’ Blend (closest to Garden Green), some copper gems and of course Linen Thread, complete this card.

I hope you have enjoyed my creation using this colour palette and look forward to seeing what you create with it.

Thank you for taking the time to take a look at how I was inspired with this colour palette. A product list is below and you can purchase these products Australia wide in my Online Store.
