Caseing the Catty Challenge CTC591 – Sunflower Fields Suite
Welcome to Caseing the Catty Challenge CTC591. This week our challenge is to CASE the Sunflower Fields Suite.
I’m CASEing the sketch from this card on Page 27 of our September-December catalogue.
To CASE is to Copy and Selectively Edit a project. This can be a direct copy or you can be inspired by it and take elements from it to make your own version.
I started with the background panel embossed with the Rustic Check Embossing Folder. This is one of my Top Picks from the September release of products. The original card had DSP with checks and this was an element I wanted to add to my creation.
Next, I added a panel of A Stitched Season Designer Series Paper. This particular sheet with the dainty flowers is my favourite.
I replaced the banner from the sample card with one of my favourite dies from the Extraordinary Life Dies – the notebook edge die, which I cut from Fluid 100 Cardstock. I watercoloured this with Crumb Cake ink refill. Over this, I splattered some Wink of Stella and added Gold Embossing Powder which was heat set to give a beautiful splattering of shine.
Several elements including a stocking, holly and leaves fill out the focal point. I’ve also added a wood die cut from Barely Blush Cardstock from the Elegant Leaves Dies. A small hexagon die cut from the DSP mimics the little butterfly element. This was such a cute detail and made me so happy. Do little elements make you happy too?
I added a vertical sentiment, inspired by the original card. A large bow cluster adds a beautiful finishing touch. In this you will see a new product which is launching in November, a very pretty Crumb Cake ribbon with a lovely edging to it.
I hope you have been inspired by my creation and give it a try. The card sketch itself is simple and you can use whatever supplies you have to recreate it.
