Inspiration can come to us from anywhere and the inspiration for this card began with a scrap piece of stamping where I was just trying out some colours. This scrap looked so good that I wanted to recreate it for a card and the background of this project came to be.
I used the smooshed image from the Perched in a Tree stamp set and inked it up with Fresh Freesia ink. Then I spritzed the stamp with water before stamping. This created a watercoloured look. I repeated this a few times. As I was using Basic White Carstock I was careful not to oversaturate the image, yet keeping the fluidity of it.
I’ve followed the sketch at Global Design Project #gdp422.
The pelican was stamped in Early Espresso ink and I added a hint of shading with Crushed Curry and Gorgeous Grape Watercolour Pencils. The lovely large leaf in the centre is from the new Thoughtful Wishes dies. It was perfect for sitting across the card so I could add the pelican on top of it.
Some additional pieces of DSP and a heat embossed sentiment complete this card. The Waves of Inspiration stamp and coordinating dies and the Perched in a Tree stamp set are all retiring on the 30th of April. Get your favourite products before they leave.
