Hello, Welcome to our Around the World on Wednesday blog hop for July. Has our bananas theme got you a bit confused? Well, it had me confused at the start but I was told that Bananagram is a word game. I’m all in for a word game.
Our challenge today is to CASE a team member, spelling out our design elements in tile format like a word game.
CASEing is to Copy and Selectively Edit a project and today Cheryll Miller and I have been paired together for this bananas challenge which has been put together by our leader Angie McKenzie. I love our CASE the team member challenge each year as Angie has a heart for friendships and loves when we get to know each other as a team. So part of our challenge parameters is to get together on Zoom, chat and find out about each other, our families, what we like and work out what we’re CASEing .
Cheryll and I had a wonderful catch up over Zoom for nearly an hour and we got to know each other so much more. We decided to CASE each other today. Cheryll particularly liked a project that I recently shared which had lots of layers on it and I loved a project which Cheryll created for one of our AWOW blog hops earlier this year, which had lots of collage elements to it.
Out came the Scrabble board tiles to create our elements for our Bananas challenge. At the heart of stamping is friendship and that’s what our community is about so we had to incorporate that in our board.
This is Cheryll’s card which I CASEd. I copied along with similar colours and used her watercolouring techniques. Click on the image to see how Cheryll created her card.
I used several stamp sets to create my base, layering the images for lots of texture. After creating my base, I started applying the layers. I added some Gold embossing which gave it a bit more of a vintage look.
The flowers from the Flowers of Beauty stamp set were stamped in Jet Black Stazon ink and watercoloured. I added a touch of Fresh Freesia for some variation against the background.
The collage look was continued on the label which was die cut from the Full of Life Designer Series Paper and blended with ink to tone in with my background.
Thank you for stopping by. To see a variation of this card being made, please hop on to my FB Live tonight 7:30 PM AEST.

Wow Rochelle … I love your card. The gold embossing on the background is a brilliant touch and I love how you have collaged the sentiment piece as well. Gorgeous!!!
Oh wow!!! Absolutely love your CAS(e) of Cheryll… your card reminded me of so many other cards she’s created so you were definitely in her vibe. So glad you two had so much fun! xx
Wow! There’s some amazing work on this map! – on Cheryll’s too –
You didn’t take the easy way out, to say the least! I love both projects and all the texture you’ve brought in with all those stamps on the back that blend together, almost like a graffiti wall… I love it!
I love all of the texture, layers and watercolor. This is absolutely stunning!
Beautiful card, Rochelle. Such pretty colours and lovely inky techniques – perfect. 🙂
