Monochromatic Calypso Coral – Trusty Tools

The Crafty Collaborations Monochromatic challenge featured colour this week is Calypso Coral. An old favourite and part of our Subtles range, Calypso Coral is a good all-rounder colour that blends really well with other colours whether it be same tones or some brighter colours for fun looks. I surprised myself by ending up with the Trusty Tools stamp set in front of me for this particular colour.

Why? you may ask. My go to for Calypso Coral would probably have been flowers but in these challenges I try to use different stamp sets and I as far as I could remember, Trusty Tools had yet to be used. So, we were painting the town, Calypso Coral!

I went for a clean look with lots of white space, choosing patterns and texture to add depth to my card.

The stamp set is a two-step set however I chose to colour my paint brush in Stampin’ Blends, even adding some paint stains down the brush.

Industrial Trinkets (the masculine bling!) completes this rather quick card which is perfect for the handyman in your life.

Frosted Forest Birthday Card – Colour Palette #59

I just love the blend of this colour palette and went in a rather unusual direction by using the colours to blend this tree from the Frosted Forest bundle.

Colour Palette 59 Frosted Forest

This bundle includes a stamp set, dies and a set of layering stencils which makes the colouring of the images so quick and easy.

The leaves on the tree were blended in all 4 colours, Partial shading through the masks enabled me to create a beautiful autumnal colour. The tree trunk was blended with Pecan Pie and Petal Pink. Mixing colours in this way gives beautiful shading and creates alternate colours.

I blended Pecan Pie ink on the bottom of the Basic White panel to ground the tree while adding some shading against the sentiment. I used a blender pen and the Pecan Pie ink refill to colour in the birds to add as a simple embellishment.

The Country Lace Designer Series Paper adds a subtle background which adds texture while still letting the beauty of the tree stand out. A bow tied from the thick Very Vanill Satin ribbon creates a lovely feature to pull this card together and adds elegance to this card.

This card is great as a masculine card and although I’ve created this for a birthday, I think this would be suitable as a Father’s Day card, retirement card or sympathy card.

Monochromatic Azure Afternoon – Watercolor World

Happy Saturday! Welcome to another monochromatic Insta Hop with the Crafty Collaborations team. Today our feature colour is Azure Afternoon. I’ve taken to the skies with my card, inking up my new Watercolor World stamp set for a fun product combination.

I started off by inking the Watercolor World stamp with Smoky Slate and Azure Afternoon, using Sponge Daubers. Then I spritzed the stamped with water to create a more watercoloured effect, before stamping the image.

I die cut the circles and it so happened that I had cut my circles a little bit off centre. This became a design element on my card. I laid out all the circles for a fun pattern, mixing it with some Designer Series Paper strips. A small strip of White Cardstock was stamped with the clouds in Azure Afternoon to bring in another textured look.

The background was brayered with Smoky Slate by rolling the brayer in both directions to create a criss-cross pattern. To ‘tie’ it all in, I wove Silver ribbon under and through the circles which gave more detail and interest while bringing together all the patterns and textures.

I felt that it needed a focal image to draw the eye in, so I added the plane which was coloured in with a Blender Pen. Some Industrial Trinkets put a nice finishing touch to this card.

Any of these products are available in my Online Store or by getting in touch with me.

New at SU Blog Hop – CASE a Team Member with Adventurous Sky

Hello and welcome to the New at SU blog hop for April. Today we have a very exciting and interesting challenge. Each of us will be CASEing another one of our New at SU team members. I find these particular chllaneges extra fun and love being inspired by my friends.

New at SU Header 2023-2024

For my project I have used the new Adventurous Sky bundle and it’s coordinating Take to the Sky suite to create a masculine themed card.

I am CASEing Heather Cooper from Playing with Papercrafting and chose one of her past New at SU projects. This one goes all the way back to April 2022. Click on the image below to view the details of Heather’s project.

I was inspired by the frame that Heather had created and replicated that using the Deckled Rectangles dies. The frame was die cut 4 times (I cut 2 at once to save time) and then I embossed one frame with the new So Swirlly Embossing Folder. On the back of the frame I added one of the smaller DSP panels which is on the sheet which has the tags.

I loosely followed the layout of Heather’s card, adding my own variation to it. The plane was ccoloured with Stampin’ Blends and added to 2 smaller strips of DSP which were offset against each other. I just love the colours of the Designer Series Paper and drew on that for my card.

Thank you for stopping by today. Please leave me a comment as you go through to view Heather Cooper’s creation.

If you live in Australia and currently don’t have a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I would value the opportunity to help you with your crafting needs. I can be contacted on Ph: 0404 255 001 or email rochelle@stampingflair.com

Scrapbook Sunday Blog Hop – Let’s go Fishing

It’s time for another Scrapbook Sunday Blog Hop with the Crafty Collaborations team. I’m using the Let’s go Fishing Designer Series Paper which has some lovely generic neutral designs in addition to it’s fishing themed images.

For the top of my design I angled a small strip of DSP. This was balanced with a strip of the same DSP at the bottom and the largest DSP panel which were both placed at the same angle.

I wanted to create space for smaller photos as well as a feature larger photo. Using the Stylish Shapes dies square die I created my polaroid look photo frames. At the back of it I added some Gray Granite mattes for the photos. Some Black and White photos would look great in these 3 smaller frames with a colour photo for the larger frame.

I’ve also used the Beauty of the Deep bundle for some stamped and die cut images adding some fussy cut fish from the DSP to swim around my page.

The large frame was placed straight to ground all the different angles that were on the page, bringing it together with another strip of DSP at the bottom.

This Designer Series Paper coordinates with the Let’s go Fishing bundle which will be carrying over into the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue. The paper is currently on our Last Chance sale and reduced to $10.87 (from $21.75), Grab yourself a pack (or two) of this while supplies last.
