AWOW Blog Hop – Case a Team Member Sketch

Welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday blog hop. It’s our 5th anniversary this year and we are celebrating by Caseing our fellow team members. For our seventh month of celebrations, we are CAS(e)ing our American team member, Chris Smith. Chris is a Splitcoaststampers Dirty Dozen design team alumni and has a classic and elegant style.

Chris nominated her favourite sketch which she first came up with in 2019 and has used many times since. I chose this beautiful autumnal card to CASE using the Maritime Moments Kit from our Kits Collection.

I started by cutting a card base from the kit to create the right panel. This was a little bit short to fit on my A6 card so I cut it apart, hiding the gap with a die cut frame from the Jolly Holly dies. A narrow Cajun Craze strip follows the sketch. I also added a strip of the check cardstock from the kit to highlight this border.

On this frame, I added some stamping, using the leaf stamp in the kit to add the Grannp Apple Green background. On top of this I stamped some Night of Navy leaves from the Textured Notes stamp set.

To the elements from the kit I added some die cuts from the Notes & Totes Dies. The fence was die cut from Basic Beige Cardstock and blended with Pecan Pie and Cajun Craze ink.

I die cut the starfish from the additional banners in the kit which were in other languages. While I didn’t have need for these as sentiments, I really like the text detail on the die cuts which adds lovely texture. A vellum shell was coloured in Granny Apple Green and Azure Afternoon Stampin’ Blends and added to the larger cluster.

I added a smaller cluster, as Chris had, combining another die cut starfish with an anchor from the kit. Some birds, from the included stamp set, were stamped in Night of Navy to complete my scene.
