Impressions Abloom Partial Die Cut with a Pop of Colour

Have you tried an unusual colour combo and thought – wow! I just LOVE that? Well, this card created with the Impressions Abloom bundle, inspired by the Color Throwdown #ctd833 challenge had me reaching for a colour palette I wouldn’t usually put together. I love the pop of colour that the red adds to the cooler colours.

I combined this palette with the sketch at My Favourite Things sketch MFT WSC #10 to create this card for my Card Creations Series featuring the Floral Impressions Suite.

After experimenting with a few different shades of gray, I finally settled on Gray Granite — it had the perfect softness for the look I wanted to achieve. To complete the colour palette, I paired it with a couple of beautiful blues and a bold pop of Poppy Parade for contrast and vibrancy.

As I look at the image above, I find many ways that I could interpret and draw on it for future creations. It’s amazing how one image can unlock a whole world of creative possibilities!

With some oval dies in the Impressions Abloom bundle, it was easy to follow the sketch. I love the partial die cut which gives such an interesting design elements for the flowers to lay on. I added some leaves in a combination for Pool Party and Cloud Cover which gave some beautiful variation. This leaf cluster is one of my favourites and you would have seen me use it several times!

The sentiment was added to a tag from the Tags to Go dies which are part of our Online Exclusives collection. These dies are part of the On the Go suite which has several products with travel related imagery. The sentiment and floral detail are from the Bright Borders stamp set and it fit just perfectly inside that tag.

I couldn’t resist adding the little lock and key to this project — it paired so perfectly with the Congrats sentiment. My mind immediately went to the phrase “key to my heart”, and it just felt right for this sentiment. During my Live video, this sweet little lock was a definite favourite among viewers. It really is such a cute detail!

To give it a special touch, I die cut the lock from the Flowering Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper. The shimmer and texture from the foiled design added a beautiful shine and brought an elegant finish to the card. I love incorporating small elements like this — they’re the little extras that elevate a design and add that unexpected interest that makes a card truly stand out.

I just love how these colours all came together and hope you give it a try too.
