New at SU Blog Hop – Make it in Minutes – Simply Christmas

Hello friends, Welcome to our November New at SU Blog Hop. With Christmas just 35 days away we are bringing to you Simply Christmas themed projects which you can make in minutes. If you are looking for some projects you can churn out quickly, then you have come to the right place. We are here to inspire you and get that process happening.

For my card today, I have chosen the Jar of Joy stamp set and coordinating Sweet Jar Builder Punch. Punches are the way to go for churning out quick projects. The gingerbread image is a two-step stamp with a filler-image and an outline. The outline image can sometimes be a little bit tricky to line up and requires a little bit extra effort. With need for speed I decided to give that outline image the flick and opted to stamp only the fill-in image. This gave me enough detail and worked great for creating a few of these cards.

The matte layer of White Cardstock has been embossed with the Jolly Holly embossing folder. This is a quick way to add texture and is one of my favourites. On top of this I rougly stamped in Coastal Cabana, the circle image from the Textured Notes stamp set, a couple of times around the jar. Then I added the long woven stamp as well. I cut the Modern Christmas Designer Series Paper along the tree line. So, I didn’t even measure it up. The black strip against the white has a lovely contrast.

Now, I know die cutting is not necessarily a part of a simple card but these dies from the Christmas Greenery Dies make it easy. There are 2 holly leaves and the berries are one die so both the leaves and berries can be die cut at the same time. I love this little addition to the jar which adds a lovely colour to this simple and elegant card.

Tips for creating this card

  • Choose an embossing folder with an irregular pattern
Organic textures like snow, foliage, or swirls mean you don’t have to fuss about lining it up perfectly. It saves time
  • Keep your focal point simple
Using a stamped-and-die-cut image like the jar is perfect for quick cards. Prepare a batch ahead of time to make assembly even faster.
  • Use ephemera for fast sentiments
Pre-printed sentiments or die-cut word elements cut down on stamping time
  • Add colour to the embossed background
Instead of stamping on the embossed panel, you could also try ink blending or splattering to add subtle colour to the background.
  • Add one strong horizontal element
A strip of Designer Series Paper grounds your focal point and gives contrast without extra layers.
  • Keep embellishments minimal but intentional
A touch of twine, a few sequins or berries, or a single die-cut element (like your holly) adds just enough detail without slowing down production.
  • Stick to a limited colour palette
Working with 2–3 core colours makes the design cohesive and much quicker to replicate in multiples.

  1. Brilliant suggestions for keeping things simple, Rochelle, and the use of pre-printed sentiments really saves time. We also involve the whole family when mass-producing holiday cards, and turn on a favorite holiday show to watch as we work!

  2. Love, Love these cards, Rochelle! I bought the stamp set for the gingerbread man. So cute. Thanks for sharing this!🎄
