Hi friends, Welcome to the October New at SU blog hog. Our theme this month is Sketches – a crafter’s secret tool! Each of us have selected a sketch from Page 16 of the Stampin’ Up! September-December Mini Catalogue to CASE. I’ve used the Humble Home bundle to feature with my sketch.
The sketch I chose to work with is the second one from the left in the last row. This sketch had me stumped for a bit and I was wondering how I was going to come up with some images that would work cohesively around the circle. My mind kept going back to Page 26 where the same sketch is used with the Reindeer Days suite and I used it as inspiration.
I chose the same circle die with the foliage from the Reindeer Fun bundle and die cut the aperture from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper. Behind it, I added a panel of Basic White Cardstock embossed with the Forever Plaid embossing folder, blending some Pool Party ink along the bottom and adding splatters with a Pool Party Stampin’ Blend.
For the 3 elements I added the house, a large heart and the sentiment. Placing these around the aperture replicated the rectangles and square in the sketch.
I added some foliage from the Winterly Tree Tops Dies, die cut from Crumb Cake Cardstock and shaded with Crumb Cake ink. Small hearts punched out from White Cardstock with the Humble Home punch were coloured with the Light Peach Pie Stampin’ Blend and scattered around with some Dappled Dots.
