Shabby Chic Look – Textured Notes Birthday Card

When I start out creating a card, there are times I just don’t know quite where it may end up! This was one of those cards. I knew I wanted a wood background and the design developed from there. What resulted was a gorgeous Shabby Chic look which I just loved. It was nice to see the Textured Notes bundle in a softer colour palette as I created this for my Card Creations Series.

I stamped the leaf image in Pretty in Pink on a die cut square which was layered on White Cardstock. A couple of embossed pieces of White Cardstock add texture and really create that shabby chic look.

For this card, I stamped the rose from the Stippled Roses stamp set and layered it over some leaves, which I die cut using the coordinating dies. I love how the colour combination of Pecan Pie and Basic Beige pairs so beautifully with Pretty in Pink. The warm neutrals really complement the softness of the pink, creating a gentle, elegant look.

On the sentiment banner I stamped the leaves in Basic Beige which provides some texture behind the sentiment. For all the tips on creating this card, please view the video tutorial. • If you love the soft, romantic look of shabby chic, here are some easy tips to bring that style into your cardmaking:
• 🌸 Choose muted, pastel colours
• Soft pinks, pale blues, gentle greens, and light neutrals create that dreamy, vintage feel.
• 🌸 Add lots of layers
• Layer your papers, die cuts, and embellishments to build depth and richness.
• 🌸 Mix in different textures
• Textures add so much character. Use embossing folders, detailed die cuts, or even a touch of heat embossing to create a tactile, cozy look.
• 🌸 Distress your elements
• I added a piece of distressed Designer Series Paper on my card for that perfectly worn-in feel. You can also gently rough up the edges of your cardstock for extra texture.
• 🌸 Add ribbon or lace
• A touch of ribbon or a piece of lace instantly adds a soft, vintage charm — it’s almost a signature of shabby chic style.
• 🌸 Include delicate embellishments
• Think pearls, sequins, tiny flowers, or vintage-style buttons — just a few small accents to add elegance without overwhelming your design.
• 🌸 Select a sentiment with a handwritten-style font
• A handwritten or calligraphy-style sentiment adds a lovely, personal touch that complements the vintage aesthetic.
