Winterly Tree Tops – Textured Notes Card
The Textured Notes Bundle has been the featured bundle for my April Card Creations Series. The stamp set with it’s gorgeous textured images is great for layered stamping, adding backgrounds, collage effects and fussy cutting. The large leaf is just beautiful and I felt that it was just calling out for this gorgeous bird from the Winterly Tree Tops Bundle to be added to it.
This colour combination might not be one I’d usually reach for—but I absolutely loved how it turned out!
I started with a strip of Basic White cardstock, blending it with Granny Apple Green for a fresh burst of colour. To add interest without overpowering the background, I stamped the woven texture in the same shade, creating a soft tone-on-tone effect. It gave the piece subtle texture and depth—just enough to make it pop without taking over the card.
I added this onto the Botanical Textures Designer Series Paper, with a die cut frame in Black from the coordinating dies.
BALANCING THE DESIGN
As I was working on my card, I felt the Granny Apple Green against the Black was quite harsh and I wanted to tone it down. Colouring the bird in Crumb Cake and adding touches of Coastal Cabana really softened the look.
I tried several card bases before choosing the Petal Pink card base which seemed to fit the colours really well. At this point I didn’t have any other Petal Pink and wanted to add the colour in elsewhere to give the card a more cohesive look. The corrugated circle was just perfect, adding some gorgeous texture and pulled all the elements together. It’s always amazing how small changes—whether it’s colour, texture, or layering—can completely transform a project.
