Get Well Soon Card – Glow of Harvest Specialty Paper

Hello, I hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend. In Melbourne we are in the middle of a long weekend with our The Glow of Harvest Designer Series Paper which is our Product of the Month from August, includes quite a number of sheets that have images which are great for fussy cutting. I wanted to create a cluster out of several of these images and add it to a slimline card, focusing on the beautiful detailed images.

I added some extra detail and shading with Watercolor Pencils to a few of the fussy cut images, giving them a little more depth and dimension.

On the woodgrain background, I hot foiled the leaves from the Botanical Glow Bundle using Copper foil. I also used the Reverse Hot Foil Die to make use of the negative foil left behind. I transferred this onto Smooth Foiling Specialty Paper, then fussy cut the leaves and tucked them in amongst the other fussy-cut images. I love how the copper foil adds a lovely touch of warmth and shine to the cluster.

For the floral cluster, I watercoloured a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper with Crushed Curry and Timid Tiger inks before die cutting the leaves from the Boutique Blossoms Dies. Watercolouring the paper first gives the leaves a beautiful variegated look, with subtle changes in colour that add extra depth and interest.

I added a strip of Blackberry Bliss Floral Charm Designer Series Paper to the base, which brings in a lovely contrast to the warm tones of the florals.

I also used another piece of Glow of Harvest Specialty Designer Series Paper, colouring the background with a Light Timid Tiger Stampin’ Blend. This is a great way to customise lighter-coloured Designer Series Paper and make it coordinate perfectly with the colours in your project. Sometimes a little colour is all it takes to turn a piece of paper into exactly what you need.
