Step-it-Up Sunday #4

Welcome to Step-it-Up Sunday. I hope you are enjoying this series and are able to get some ideas for your projects. It’s all about the gentlemen this week – True Gentlemen suite. The colours are classy and so great for men’s cards. The stamp set coordinates with a tag punch. Punches are always useful and tag punches are a definite must have. You will find so many uses for it, even with other stamp sets.

The basic card makes use of the coordinating Designer Series Paper. The colours and patterns are classy just like the sentiment. One larger piece on the base and another piece matted on Very Vanilla cardstock make it standout. The corduroy ribbon topped with the sentiment gives you a very simple and quick card to create.

For the Intermediate crafter I’ve stepped up this card with a couple of extra layers. Both the Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip cardstock have been stamped with the bow tie stamp from the Truly Tailored stamp set. This adds an extra dimension to the card.

For the crafter who wants try something a little more advanced, I masked off a section of the sentiment with washi tape. Then I inked it up in Chocolate Chip ink, took off the washi tape and coloured in the word ‘Classy’ with a Tranquil Tide Stampin’ Write marker. Give the stamp a bit of a huff of breath (this moistens the stamp) and stamp on cardstock. 

There is an added embossed banner under the Tranquil Tide panel. I also wanted to bring in the Crushed Curry by punching some Starburst circles and cutting each in about a third. Adhere these behind the Tranquil Tide panel. Add a button tied with linen thread to complete the look.
