Happy Valentine’s Day! Today the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop team are sharing the love of our favourite technique. There are so many great techniques and I can’t wait to see what everyone’s favourite is.
Our team comprises of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators representative of our global market and on the second Wednesday of each month we share creative inspiration with you.
The first thing that popped into my head for my favourite technique was ink blending because I seem to use it it some capacity on the majority of my cards. I managed to incorporate quite a few of my favourite techniques on my cards today as I realised there are some I tend to use quite often such as layering and colouring.
First I blended a background of Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sorbet. I had an idea of creating a background of cow spots on this background. To do this, I created a mask from Basic White Cardstock using some dies from the Pansy Patch dies which had the shapes suitable for this. Then I blended Pecan Pie and Early Espresso ink through it.
I die cut the background pieces of the greenery from Soft Sea Foam Cardstock and blended Garden Green ink over it to create a variation in colour. The layer at the back has been embossed with the Elegant Eucalyptus Embossing Folder which had the long sprigs like grass. I randomly blended some Cardstock with a range of greens and die cut the grass from it. I love how this provides different shading across the die cut pieces.
The Old Olive panel towards the front was embossed with the Fern embossing folder which added the textured look behind the grass.
As part of this challenge, we were also encouraged to double up the challenge and find out the technique of one of our team members. I really enjoy finding out more about our team like this because we are friends and it’s nice to get to know your friends better. I reached out to Danielle Kassing who let me know that her favourite technique is creating Ink Blended backgrounds (make sure you check her post out). So I’ve created a card focusing on this fun technique.
Using the large grass die cut from the Garden Meadow dies I blended a range of greens down the panel of Basic White Cardstock. This creates a fun ombre background and it’s a great way to use your different coloured ink pads.
The flowers were fussy and I added the cute cow on top. On both the cows today I added a bit of sponge daubing with Pecan Pie ink to add a dusting of earthy dirt!
A panel of White Cardstock embossed with the Stripes embossing folder adds some lovely texture. This embossing folder is part of the Stripes & Splatters pack and you can get it free with a $90 order during our Sale-A-Bration promotions which runs through until 29th February.
What is your favourite technique that you just love? Let me know in the comments. I hope that you have enjoyed the projects I’ve shared with you today and try out some of these fun techniques.
Please hop through to Cheryll Miiller to see what she is sharing with us today. I know she will have something amazing for you.

Welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday blog hop. This month we celebrate the start of our 4th year as a group and I want to thank Angie Mckenzie who puts in so much effort to organising everything and keeping us running smoothly. I love this group and am grateful to be part of such a beautiful community.
This month our theme is April Showers bring May flowers. Over in Melbourne we’re in Autumn so there are showers but not many flowers and it’s getting a little bit chilly.
We were given a double challenge to create something that reminds us of spring along with a technique. Didn’t matter that spring is gone, I still chose some spring colours and have followed the sketch at Sunday Stamps for my creation.
I started off by creating the 3 centre panels using the Emboss Resist technique.
EMBOSS RESIST PANEL
Using the Artistic Mix Decorative Mask, add Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo and Coastal Cabana ink randomly with a Blending Brush. Use Lighter tones.
Stamp the 2 different leaves with Versamark ink over the entire panel
Add clear embossing powder
Melt embossing powder with Heat Tool
With Blending Brush, go over the entire panel in the same colours. Apply colours a little bit darker over embossed leaves.
Wipe back colour from embossed leaves with a paper wipe.
I used the Mini Pocket Envelope Dies to die cut the 3 panels and then matte it onto Kraft Cardstock.
The card base was covered with a layer of Vellum with a subtle leafy pattern. On this, I added the 3 small emboss resist panels which had been layered onto a long die cut piece from the Irresistible Blooms dies. This was then added to an embossed panel matte with the Naturally Gilded Designer Series Paper. For the strip of Textured Shimmer Paper, I used the Balmy Blue sheet and blended Coastal Cabana over it to coordinate with my colours.
The flower was stamped twice, fussy cut and layered with some heat embossed leaves and smaller Early Espresso Leaves die cut using the Mini Pocket Envelope Dies.
I had to include my favourite Linen Thread and some simple pearls to complete this spring blooms card.
Thank you for visiting me here in cool Melbourne. A full product list can be found at the bottom of this post. Please note that some of these products are on the Last Chance list and are available only while supplies last.

Hello and welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday final blog hop for 2022. As the year comes to a close and we embark on a new year, our theme of Something New, Something Old is very fitting. We’re especially focusing on something we haven’t used in our stash.
Now, I do have stamp sets from our Annual catalogue which are yet to be inked up but I couldn’t go past using something from the upcoming January – April Catalogue for my new product. The By the Bay suite had me as I opened the catalogue. I have a fondness for all sets that are beachy and this suite was the first product I purchased from this catalogue.
The By the Bay Specialty Designer Series Paper provides my background and it is just stunning with it’s Gold and Pearl Foil detail.
The Basic Borders Dies create the waves. I die cut 2 sets – one in Basic White and one in Coastal Cabana which I blended with Night of Navy ink.
A sentiment heat embossed in Gold on Vellum adds softness to this card without detracting from the pretty paper.
I hope you have enjoyed this card using a sneak peek from the new catalogue and that it inspires you to use a yet-to-be-used product on your next creation.
You will be able to order the products from the By the Bay suite starting 5th January or you can add it to a Starter Kit today.
Thank you for stopping by and visiting me in Melbourne. Next on our trip Around the World is the wonderfully talented Cheryll Miller.

Welcome to our Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop where every 2nd Wednesday of the month, our team based around the world, share Stampin’ Up! inspiration. Today we’ve got a sketch challenge and we could choose one of these variations.
A couple of weeks ago I celebrated my big 50. As part of of my celebrations, over the entire month of September I shared a card each day created with a different sketch during my Sketchtember Challenge. So with today’s sketch I thought I’d do something a bit unusual for me and create a scrapbook page with the layout on the left.
A friend of my daughter Cassidy took 800 photos (yes you read that right) on the night of my party. I am still sifting through what to post on Facebook! Got to love a young lady who takes her party duties seriously. I thought a family photo would be nice to place in this page layout with a similar colour palette to my birthday celebrations which was pink, sage and gold.
I am not a scrapbooker but I do love creating these layouts and I like that I can display them in a frame or shadow box and change the pictures out.
I started by cutting an entire sheet of Hues of Happiness DSP to 3.5 cm strips. Now that took courage to chop that pretty paper. Have you seen the other side? Papercrafter struggles! Then I laid all the strips together and blended Polished Pink ink over some areas through a mask before assembling it on my Crumb Cake Cardstock. Did you know we have a range of 12″ x 12″ Cardstock in our entire colour range? This makes it so easy when creating larger projects or gift boxes.
I stamped several of the flowers from the Happiness Abounds stamp set in Crumb Cake ink. This provided a more subtle outline and blended with my colour palette well. I coloured them in with a mix of Stampin’ Blends as shown below.
How to colour the flowers
Stamp in Crumb Cake ink
Light Petal Pink over entire flower
Some shading with Dark Petal Pink
Highlights of Light Polished Pink through the centre and at the base of some petals
Light Crumb Cake for shadow and depth at base of some petals
How to colour the leaves
Stamp in Garden Green ink
Long highlight strokes at base with Light Soft Succulent
Filled in with Light Soft Sea Foam
Add Dark Soft Sea Foam on smaller leaves to add shading at base
The number ’50’ was on the cupcakes which I had on my birthday and adding this to my page gave meaning to why we call scrapbooking – memory keeping. Also better than having this laying in a drawer with no purpose – now it has a place!
Thank you for stopping by my blog today and I hope you are inspired to create some scrapbook layouts and make those memories even more special. Products I have used on this project are listed at the bottom of this post. If you have any questions please get in touch with me.

Welcome to our Around the World Blog Hop where on the 2nd Wednesday of each month we share Stampin’ Up! inspiration from various parts of the world. Today our theme is Never Ever Grow Up which immediately makes us think of children.
However, as I write this, I think of my partner Adrian because I think he missed the memo about growing up. Always up for a lark, I could have easily done a project for him. Ha! Ha! I digress.
Instead, I focused on my daughter Cassidy. We have a tradition, ever since I started with Stampin’ Up! which was about 8 years ago, I’ve created a fancy fold card for birthdays and Christmases. Each fancy fold is different and they will always be one that I havent’t tried before because then it felt that extra special.
So today I’ve created the Triple Cube Pop-Up Card for the first time using a tutorial by Lisa Curcio. I like fancy folds that are wow without being intensely difficult. This is one of those folds. It comes together so quickly.
I used the free Sale-A-Bration Hippest Hippos stamps and dies. Each of these products are free with a $90 order whiles supplies last, until 31st August. So if you spend $180 you will be able to get both products. These gals are so cute and were really fun to colour.
That unsual pink on the umbrella was achieved by me trying Mint Macaron and not liking it. So I went over it with the Dark Polished Pink Stampin’ Blend and presto, a new colour!
I’ve chosen the ‘Awww, you’re the best’ sentiment which is apt as Cassidy and I generally try to see who can say it last before we go to bed. It’s our ‘thing’.
How much fun would a child get when they open this card and it pops open and these 3 hippos stand their looking so cute? I think any kid would just love it. This neatly fits in a regular C6 envelope for posting.
Measurements:
Cardstock: 20cm x 21cm
Score on the long side at 5cm, 10cm, 15cm and 20cm
Turn to the right and cut right down at 5cm and 10cm which forms the 2 side boxes
Catch my FB Live tonight to watch me make this fun fold. My newsletter my subscribers will receive a full tutorial with cutting dimensions in both metric and imperial for this card.
