Wishing You Well Lily Card

Last week I stamped and die cut lilies in every colour. This stamp is so easy to work with and very effective. Being a Distinktive stamp set, it offers the advantage of a photo like image with a single stamping. How gorgeous are these lilies in Coastal Cabana? Bermuda Bay is a lovely combination with it and the Stitched Circle frame makes those lilies stand out.

Wishing You Well handmade card with Lasting Lily Saleabration bundle

The stamp set is free with a $180 order. It is a 2nd tier Sale-A-Bration stamp set as it comes with a lot of sentiments and of course those beautiful lilies.

These and the coordinating dies are only available until Sunday 31st March.  Those label dies are great for cutting around the sentiments.

I’ve completed my card with a range of Designer Series Paper. I really liked the look of the light coloured wood with the blue hues.  The lilies were curved using a bone folder to take on the shape of the bouquet.

Step-it-Up Sunday #51 Beautiful You

Hi,

Hope this Sunday finds you well and refreshed for the week ahead. This week I set out to clear out some incomplete cards and make envelopes for cards – tying up loose ends. There are still so many half done projects I have. Slowly but surely I say.

Today I have got out the Beautiful You stamp set which has been in our catalogue for a couple of years now. This has been such a popular stamp set and I thought it required a spot on ‘Step-it-Up Sunday’. This week I’ve changed my categories to tie in with the categories that Stampin’ Up! promote to make it easier to identify the cards which might be suitable for the various types of crafters.

I started off with a piece of Designer Series Paper and then worked out my colour combination from there.

Beginner

I used Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp the lady onto Whisper White cardstock. What I love about this stamp set are those scribbly images that add colour by just stamping. The dress was stamped in Grapefruit Grove and the water in Coastal Cabana which has been stamped off once.

I used a border stamp from Southern Serenade stamp set to add some extra interest to this panel. The sentiment is from the Botanical Bliss stamp set.

Casual

To step this card up, I stamped the image in Stazon ink onto Shimmery white cardstock. Then I created a mask and water coloured around the lady with Coastal Cabana and Grapefruit Grove ink refills. Using a sponge dauber, I distressed the edges of the cardstock with these same colours.

The laser cut paper has been coloured with the Stampin’ Blend to match the project.

Some extra detail was added to the base card using a doily mask and a sponge dauber. The Delightfully Detailed Memories & More card pack came in so handy to embellish and add just that little bit more. I have got so much use out of this pack and have used it in various ways. I’ve even die cut the leaves out of one of the cards in this pack.

The black laser cut paper really adds a nice touch. I wasn’t happy that I was losing half of it behind my main panel so I punched out a circle from it to get more use out of it. Then I added this to the sentiment.

Just Add Ink Challenge #447 Fable Friends

I’m participating in the Just Add Ink sketch challenge this week. I love working with sketches as it gives me a starting point but yet so many options to work with.

Just Add Ink Sketch Challenge

I chose my bunny friend from Fable Friends for this card. This time creating a newborn card and using the sentiment from the Baby Bear stamp set.

I added Soft Sea Foam to the Country Floral Embossing Folder before running through the Big Shot to create the background. I’m really loving this effect. It’s so pretty and soft. I stamped the bunny then masked off it off to stamp around it using the Artisan Textures stamp. The jacket has been coloured with Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends and the bunny in Early Espresso Water Colour pencil. I used Whisper White cardstock and gently blended it in using a Blender pen.

As I didn’t have any So Saffron ribbon and felt the card needed it, I coloured the tulle ribbon with a sponge dauber. The soft look suits this baby card.

Embossing the envelope added a nice touch to create a matching look.

Making a Creative Element Out of a Mistake

A few weeks back we had no electricity for nearly 24 hours and I occupied some of my time by making cards under candlelight. My eyesight is not the greatest at the best of times so candlelight posed an extra challenge for me. I was working with the Classic Garage Suite preparing for blogging, classes and Class in the Mail.

The coordinating colours in the Designer Series Paper are BasicBlack, Basic Gray, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Tranquil Tide, Very Vanilla and Whisper. However, I wanted to create with a slight different colour palette. So I chose Balmy Blue to work in with Real Red Basic Gray and Whisper White. I stamped, coloured and die cut the pieces and partially assembled the card so I could complete it another day.

The car was coloured with Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends. Love this colour. I die cut the gears and then used a sponge dauber to add Real Red to it. This gave it a distressed look. And how cute is that little metal key? Each pack of embellishments come with 8 keys and 8 spanners for $12.25. That’s 76 cents each. Cute embellishment to add at not much cost and it finishes the card off nicely.

When I went to add my sentiment I realized that I had stuffed up a bit. So have you spotted my boo boo yet? I mixed Whisper White and Very Vanilla cardstock on the card. The car is stamped on Whisper White and the stripes and sentiment on Very Vanilla. Not a regular combination. Now I did think of fixing it but overall I liked the look of it because I added a little punched piece of Designer Paper which tied in the Very Vanilla nicely. A mistake became something I actually liked.

Like to make some more cards with this suite? Take a look at March Class in the Mail where the featured suite is the Classic Garage suite. You make any order of $60 using the given Host Code and I’ll send you complete PDF instructions which include measurements and photos, card bases and envelopes to get you on your way to making 4 cards. No planning necessary as I plan the layouts for you. Here’s a preview of the cards featured in the PDF.
