Vintage-Look Seaside Card

The By the Bay stamp set has got to be one of my favourite items from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue. I love the serene images and that house overlooking the water looks so peaceful.

First glance at this stamp set can be a little bit daunting. Well, it was for me anyway because all I could see was colouring. I love colouring and have enjoyed colouring in these images. However, I really wanted to find another way of using it which took less time but still achieved a great result. So this is how today’s card came about.

I stamped the image in Early Espresso ink and distressed the edges with a sponge dauber using Crumb Cake and Early Espresso. This created the vintage feel to the image. Tearing the edges of the Designer Series Paper also gives the aged look. To achieve this in a fairly straight line, hold your left index finger close to the edge of the paper while ripping it with your right hand. This guides the direction of the paper somewhat.

I stamped the shell, coloured it with the Caypso Coral watercolour pencil and fussy cut it before attaching it with liquid glue. This just adds a nice touch of colour along with the Coastal Cabana doily.

The sentiment was embossed with White Embossing Powder on Early Espresso cardstock and gives a bit of the beach feel with the linen thread that I’ve used to ‘hang’ it.

You’ve still got a few days left to get this stamp set FREE during Sale-A-Bration. If you’re not sure what this is all about – ask me for details.

Graceful Garden Welcome for a New Team Member

I made this card to welcome my newest team member. Carlien has been a regular attendee at my classes for over a year and over that time she has come to really love all the products Stampin’ Up offers.  So it was a natural progression for her to join the team. Welcome Carlien.

All those who join receive a card and a gift from me as a thank you for becoming part of our Stampin’ Up family.  It just gets better and better as you go along.

With this card I used the no line water colouring technique. Yes, there are lines but they are very feint. I stamped the outline in Gray Granite which has been stamped off twice. Then I added colour with water colour pencils. I blended these in with an aqua brush, slowly dragging in the outer line so it pretty much disappears.

The colours used were Crushed Curry, Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green and Garden Green.
