This month the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop team are CASEing a team member. What does it mean to CASE? There are a couple of variations that are around in the cardmaking world. Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit. CASEing can be a direct copy of a project or you can take the idea and change it up to your style. It provides inspiration and ideas and can be handy if you’re really stuck in a rut with creativity.
For me, this is a favourite challenge we do each year with our AWOW team. Our team is made up of such talented members and I love that there is so much inspiration we can gain and much to be learned from each other. It was very exciting watching Angie Mckenzie, who is our leader, do her Facebook Live. There’s always much anticipation each year as to what twist and spin Angie has up her sleeve and of course, who she is going to pair you up with. There’s a lot of planning and thoughtfulness which goes into this.
What I love about our AWOW CASE a team member hops is that Angie encourages us to get to know each other. This is not just another ‘hop’. We form friendships and bonds and care for each other beyond the Stampin’ Up! world because we are able to take time to find out more about the person behind the stamping.
I was paired up with Sharon Burkert from As the Ink Dries. Through the magic of Zoom, Sharon and I were able to find a decent time that worked between Chicago and Melbourne and catch up. We chatted for an hour, learning about each other and it was so good to actually see each other LIVE! This was so exciting for me and I loved this experience. So after chatting about craft rooms, stamping, family and other things we set on the task at hand.
THE BRIEF
- CASE a team member – We could pick any team member but we couldn’t let the rest of the team know. Top secret!
- TAG – It’s a collaboration tag team. Our projects had to coordinate with each other in some way
- MUST HAVE – We had to have ONE colour in common
So how did we go? Sharon suggested we CASE Angie McKenzie from Nature’s Inkspirations and of course I thought this was such a brilliant idea. Angie is the brains behind this blog hop and puts in so much effort each month to ensure all the admin side is organised. It’s hard work keeping a bunch of women under control! She comes up with these amazing themes to keep us inspired and creating and she does all this with grace and kindness. To top it all off she is such a beautiful lady and a special friend.
So, for the Tag part we used a layout from one of Angie’s gorgeous cards. Click here to see how Angie created her card.
Sharon and I both love Lemon Lolly and chose that as our common colour to feature. I can’t wait to see what Sharon has created with this layout.
I flipped Angie’s layout to work with a landscape card as I really wanted to use the Rays of Light stamp set. That’s the beauty of CASEing. You can take inspiration and make it your own. I cut down this panel to fit the die cut Radiating Stitches Rectangle which I blended with Lemon Lolly ink. I trimmed the card base on the 14.8 cm side about 1 cm to have an even edge around the frame.
On the circle I heat embossed a white sentiment which was the focal point of the card. I added a cloud border to depict Angie’s notebook edge and replaced the linen thread with gold trim.
As much as I love the Gorgeously Made bundle which Angie has used on her card I tried to be different and chose the Cheerful Daisies bundle as I know Angie loves her some daisies (check out our blog hop header). These were heat embossed in white on Basic White Cardstock then coloured with Bubble Bath and Moody Mauve Stampin’ Blends.
Next on our hop is the talented Cheryll Miller who will have something amazing to share with you. I hope you will be inspired as you hop through with us and take a look at everyone’s creations. Please leave a comment as you go through as we love hearing from you and perhaps you will CASE one of our designs.. I’m excited to find out who everyone is CASEing!
