AWOW Blog Hop – Remember When
Hello and welcome to another Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop. September is our 6th month of Caseing a team member as part of our 5th anniversary celebrations. Our group has been selected and coordinated by Angie McKenzie who puts together some fabulous themes for us to create along with on the second Wednesday of each month.

Today we are Caseing our American team member Bree Renwick who is in her second year as a Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team member. Bree has a beautiful style and there were many projects to choose from including sketches and some lovely colour palettes. Finally, I made my selection of the card below choosing to CASE the sketch and some of the design elements from it for my card.

Our theme this month is Remember When and for my project I created a Christmas card reminiscent of ones I remember from my childhood. Back when I was in Sri Lanka, this is a cherished memory I have. Our family used to receive many cards from friends overseas with beautiful wintry scenes and this was the classic Christmas I always envisioned.
I’ve used the Winter Scenes stamp set which has beautiful scenic images, stamping and fussy cutting the image of this cabin to go ‘inside’ the jar from the Jar of Joy stamp set. This image also reminded me of home and family, which is what Christmas is about. I coloured the image in a combination of Stampin’ Blends and Watercolour Pencils. The cabin has been added to some Embossing Paste to create the effect of snow.

USE YOUR SCRAPS
The stripes on the dog’s jumper, in Bree’s card, caught my eye and I wanted to incorporate it as a design element on my card. I adhered strips of Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive Cardstock onto Basic White Cardstock. These were cut into 4cm x 4cm squares and combined with the Wildflower Celebrations Designer Series Paper to create the square background. Between the jar and background I’ve added an embossed Pecan Pie label, cut in half which was similar to the embossed circle on Bree’s card.

An embossed matte layer and an offset greeting follow Bree’s card design. I added a double bow and some embellishments to complete my Christmas card.

I hope you have enjoyed my variation on Bree’s beautiful card and would love to hear what you think as you follow our hop through for more inspiration.
Next on our hop is my friend Cheryll Miller who is sure to have a beautiful creation to share with you.

Love everything about your card, Rochelle!! The texture of the embossing paste is a brilliant idea!
What an amazing card. I love the way your jar is like a shaker/snowball.
