Welcome to Stamping Flair in Melbourne where I’m hopping with the lovely ladies from the Around the World on Wednesday team. We are a group of stampers from around the globe who share inspiration using Stampin’ Up! products on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Please check out all the beautiful inspiration that you will find on this hop.
Our theme this month is It’s a Wonderful Day in the Neighborhood with a focus on our favourite place in the world – whether it’s where we live, somewhere we have visited or any place we may have been to. I’ve been in Australia for 36 years and there are so many lovely places to share – even where I live. I particularly love Tasmania for it’s beauty and quiet. However, for today’s project I’ve gone back to the Motherland – Sri Lanka.
I lived there until I was a teenager and when I think of Sri Lanka I think of it’s friendly people and it’s beautiful scenery. An island nation rich in beauty, there is so much I love about the country and it’s people. After tossing around tea estates, wildlife and other fun stuff I settled on it’s beaches. The Sunkissed stamp set from the Mini Catalogue is a sweet stamp set with some idyllic images.
Using a Stamparatus, I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to colour the stamp directly in different colours and stamp. Then I blended So Saffron, Pale Papaya and Pool Party around the image to create a sunny background.
I used the Candy Canes Dies to create the look of rattan which you will see quite a lot of in Sri Lanka. It gave it that tropical feel. To make it easy when criss-crossing these dies, use adhesive sheets on the back before die cutting. Cutting into a square was a little bit tricky but ensure your 2 die cuts are stuck well together and use your Paper Snips for any stubborn bits that try to get caught in the Trimmer. That will make it easier. It was worth the effort though as I really loved the effect it created.
The flowers from the Apple Blossom Dies were coloured with a mix of Stampin’ Blends and then edged with So Saffron and Polished Pink inks to resemble frangipani (at least in colour!).
Thank you for stopping by and checking out by tropical card and I hopse you are inspired to use this sweet stamp set in a variety of ways.
Next on our hop is the lovely Cheryll Miller and I can’t wait to see what inspired her creation. Click on the Next Blog button to follow through on the hop.

Beautiful card
Sunkissed is a great set for this, with that lovely palm tree image. I love the way you’ve framed it against the textured background. But for me, it’s those beautiful bright blossoms that are the absolute scene-stealers. 🙂
Aaah Rochelle definitely, you are so talented! This card is just beautiful and I love how you used the tasty Cannes punches to get a tropical impression! Thank you for this beautiful sharing! Xx
