Hello and welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday blog hop. This month is a month of reflection with the theme being ‘The Way We Were’.
I have gone back to decade when I was born the 70s and picked out shapes and colours from that era to create my card.
When I migrated to Australia in 1986, I remember living in a rented house that was caught in a 70s time warp. Every room was a different colour – it was horrendous! While using these colours today, I have tried to make my card a bit nicer and blend these colours in so hopefully they are not as horrendous . So here we go…
Geometric shapes seemed to be very much in vogue and arches were on-trend in houses so I chose the arched shape from the Garden Meadow dies as my backdrop. I blended this in Cajun Craze, Copper Clay and Crushed Curry.
Then I created a set of retro vases using various dies and colours. The 70s did have some eclectic colours, some didn’t really go so well together, although those earthy tones were not too bad. By altering die cuts I was able to create these 3 vases.
The largest one was blended in Azure Afternoon and embossed with the So Swirly Embossing Folder. The slim one at the back was blended in Crushed Curry while the one in the front was die cut from Lemon Lime Twist Designer Series Paper.
I added some touches of Basic Beige to break up the deep colouring, with the panel at the back sccored using my Simply Scored tool (it’s a bit hard to see the scored lines) which added some subtle texture.
The Copper Clay panel was embossed with the Forever Plaid Embossing Folder in keeping with popular plaid trend during of the era.
