As I started creating this card for the Crafty Collaborations Monochromatic Instagram hop, I realised that I really hadn’t extensively used Orchid Oasis in it’s tenure as an In-Color. I’m glad I’ve got to spotlight it before it leaves us in a couple of months.
Every card has an idea that it starts with and for this one it was those little flowers from the Softly Sophisticated stamp set. These were stamped and fussy cut and although it took a little bit of time it was worth the effort. This stamp set is part of a bundle which is a Sale-A-Bration reward. For the background I blended ink through a mask and then stamped the words from the Quiet Meadow stamp set while the mask was in place.
Here’s how I created the splattered look behind the flowers.
FOCAL POSTAGE STAMP
- Blend Orchid Oasis ink around the edges
- Use a Water Painter to splatter Craft ink refill on the postage stamp, flicking the brush against the cap. The refill needs to be a little runny.
- Using the Water Painter, add Craft ink around the edges of the die cut
- Leave to completely dry
- Stamp leaves and dots in Tuxedo Black ink
I added some ink blending on the matte layer which was embossed with the Softly Sophisticated Embossing Folder. This created depth against the card base.
