CASEing the Catty CTC478 – Masking Project

Hello friends, This week in our CASEing the Catty Crew blog hop for CTC478 we are CASEing a masking project from the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue. You can find a range of these projects suggested on Pages 124-125.

I chose a technique of using Masking Paper to mask of areas of my cardstock and then blend colour onto it. You can see an example of this in the catalogue with the butterfly project where the colour has been brayered on. However, for my project I blended the colours.

I cut 1 cm strips of Masking Paper and adhered it diagonally across a piece of Cardstock to form a pattern. Then I blended Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry across the sheet.

TIP: As the Masking Paper is very sticky, before placing it onto the Cardstock, apply it to your clothing to reduce the stickiness. This will help when you need to peel it off the Cardstock.

Once the ink had dried (you can use your heat tool to speed up the process), I stamped the Leaf Collection background stamp in Versamark and heat embossed it in Clear embossing powder. This created a beautiful, subtle image across the blending. I also splattered some dots with a Black Stampin’ Blend.

The label under the sentiment was die cut from Fluid 100 Cardstock on which I watercoloured Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry and Basic Gray ink to tie in with the background.

Those little flowers were all die cut in one go with the you-beaut die that’s in the Flowers of Beauty dies. There’s one strip that cuts 8 flowers in one pass. Before I die cut the flowers, I dabbed on some Crushed Curry ink with a Blending Brush onto the Pretty in Pink Cardstock to give the flowers some shading.

I trimmed down the length of the card base to better fit the size of the Radiating Stiches dies for A4 Cardstock, with a finished card front of 10.5 cm x 13.9 cm.

Our Bonus Days promotion runs until 31st July. Every $90 you spend in store will earn you a $9 coupon which you can redeem in August. Shopping List for this project can be found at the end of this post.

It’s been lovely having you stop by my blog and I hope to see you back soon.

    1. Wow, Rochelle – your masked background panel blended with Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry is amazing. And then the clear embossed leafy design over the top. Love the way you water-coloured the label to coordinate with the background. All so beautiful xxx
