Caseing the Catty CTC517 – Favourite Mini Catalogue Project

This week our Caseing the Catty crew are Caseing our Favourite Mini Catalogue Project for CTC517. With just over a week left for both the Annual Catalogue and Mini Catalogue, it’s nice to re-visit some favourites over the past 2 weeks.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO CASE?

To CASE means to Copy and Selectively Edit a project, be inspired by it to make it your own. The Caseing the Catty Challenge, uses our Stampin’ Up! catalogues as inspiration and each week our crew start off the challenge with a blog hop.

I’m having a bit of a giggle as I write this blog post. This particular suite, Friends of the Ocean, didn’t interest me at all, which is quite unusual as I normally like everything ocean themed. While the suite didn’t appeal to me, I actually like the coral die cuts with it’s pierced detail.Anyway, here I am, picking this card as my favourite in the Mini Catalogue! What really caught my eye was the sketch — those offset layers are just my style, and the layered sentiment was a lovely touch.

For my card, I switched things up a little. Instead of the sentiment from the sketch, I replaced it with an image from the Framed Scenes bundle (which you’ll find in our Online Exclusives store). The image was stamped on Basic White Cardstock and I coloured it with Watercolour Pencils. These pencils are just beautiful to work with and I love the rich colours that I was able to achieve on this image.

The finished scene was then framed with a Gray Granite die cut from the Framed Scenes bundle and positioned on the left side of the card, in place of where the sentiment would normally sit.

For the card base, I stamped some dots from the Elements of Texture stamp set in Gray Granite — creating a look similar to the bubbles on the original card. To build up the background, I layered a 10cm square of Lilypond Lane Designer Series Paper, then added a 9.5cm square of Basic White, embossed with the Distressed Tile Embossing Folder.

On the background I replicated the offset squares with a 10cm square of the Lilypond Lane Designer Series Paper. On top of this I added a 9.5 cm square embossed with the Distressed Tile Embossing Folder. This folder has sold out in our Last Chance Sale which is a reminder to get those favourites before they sell out! A good substitute would be the Exposed Brick Embossing Folder.

A sentiment on an Azure Afternoon watercolour wash background sits on top of the foliage from the new Beautiful Motifs bundle in our upcoming catalogue. I feel this leaf is going to get a lot of use from me. Some Silver Sequins and Gray Granite Baker’s Twine were the perfect finishing touches.
