Caseing the Catty Challenge CTC575 – Technique
Welcome to the Caseing the Catty Challenge CTC575. Our theme this week is to CASE a technique featured in the May-August Stampin’ Up! catalogue. As you browse through the catalogue you will find many techniques featured in the samples. From basic to advanced, there’s something for us to try out.
To CASE is to Copy and Selectively Edit a project. This can be a direct copy or you can put your own spin on it. I’ve been inspired by these 2 cards from the Valley in Bloom Suite. The one on the left features spritzing and the one on the right has distressing and colouring with Stampin’ Blends.

I started with a piece of Fluid 100 Cardstock which I spritzed with water. Then I used Water Painters to add Balmy Blue and Golden Glow ink refills to the piece.
Now this gave a totally different look to the original card but this was where my inspiration took me.
Then I splattered water droplets with the Water Painter and added some ink refill drops to complete this piece.
Instead of using this as a background (which would have been lovely), I die cut my leaves out of it. Then I stamped the flowers in Early Espresso and coloured them in with Stampin’ Blends.
I tore the edge of the Painted Patterns Designer Series Paper and the Golden Glow Two-Tone Cardstock to resemble the second card. Adding this to an embossed White matte layer just makes these colours pop.
The border of the sentiment strip has been die cut with the Bordered in Beauty Dies for a pretty scalloped edge.
