Hi Friends,

Hope you have enjoyed some relax time over this weekend amidst trying to catch up with everything that needs doing. Remember, ‘Crafting keeps the crazies away’.

I’ve enjoyed my second week of holidays and return to work on Monday. This week Adrian and I have been on the kitchen renovation mission. It’s finally happening. We have such an old kitchen with an old oven and for someone who likes to cook (me), I have firm words with it many a time. I will let you know how things progress as we go forward.

This cute piggy is from the This Little Piggy stamp set and has been a favourite of many. I thought I’d feature it in Step-it-Up Sunday this week and create a flying pig card. I really liked the sentiment that accompanies the image – She believed she could. It is suitable for graduation, encouragement, ‘pick-me-up’ occasion.

Basic

Firstly, cover your 5”x5” card base with Petal Promenade DSP. Cut a 4 1/2” square of Balmy Blue cardstock and place the cloud mask over it. With a sponge dauber apply White Craft ink. I heat set the ink with a heat gun on setting 1 to make sure the ink was dry. Then stamp clouds.

Die cut a circle and stamp the pig in a Gray Granite. Colour the wings with Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Write Marker then apply Wink of Stella over it. Although it can’t be seen in the photo, it gives a lovely glittery look. A very quick card to make with a fun image and sentiment.

Intermediate

For the Intermediate card, stamp the clouds and then use the mask to apply embossing paste to your background. Stamp the pig and colour in with Stampin’ Blends. If the clouds aren’t glittery enough for you, I made the wings glittery too. To apply Dazzling Diamonds, I applied a thin layer of liquid glue to the wings and poured the Dazzling Diamonds over it. Make sure the Blends have dried prior to completing this step. Fussy cut your image and adhere with Dimensionals.

Advanced

I first saw this technique done by Carolyn Bennie and I thought this technique would look great with the pig looking like it was flying.

For the Advanced Card, the Balmy Blue panel gets attached later with the pig.

To create the peep hole use a die to cut through all layers at the same time. At this stage it would help to put a little pencil mark on the back of the Blue cardstock to identify the top so you can align it later – I know for next time! You need to run it through the Big Shot a few times because of the thickness of the cardstock.

Then take a circle die one size larger and one size smaller than the die cut hole to create a frame. Cut 2 frames.

The next step is to create the second pig using the Reflection Technique. Colour them with Stampin’ Blends and fussy cut. Place the metallic thread on the back of one pig and secure well with Tear & Tape.

Cut off thread. In the photo it shows a double strand but I only put one on my card so it woukdn’t get tangled up. Attach the pigs together with liquid glue. Attach the other part of the metallic thread under the Balmy Blue cardstock. Secure well with Tear & Tape.

Once this has been done, attach your cardstock panel to the Petal Promenade DSP. Attack your frames – one at the front and one at the back to neaten the card.
