aWow Blog Hop- Let’s Shake Things Up

Welcome friend to our Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop, We’re shaking it up this month by trying something new to each of us!
Our AWOW team is spread across the world and on the 2nd Wednesday of each month we share our love of Stampin’ Up! through this blog hop.

I’ve tried a couple of new-to-me ideas on my card which I’ve been wanting to try for some time. I have had rubbing alcohol in my stash for many months now with an intention of giving alcohol blending a try. Now I know this is old hat to some of you but here is my first attempt at it. I used rubbing alcohol with 70% alcohol in it and I know the higher the concentrate you will probably get a better result.
I scribbled Dark Olive and Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends on vellum and then spritzed it with rubbing alcohol (Isopropyl) I used a larger piece of Vellum than required and then glued it onto a smaller piece of Basic White cardstock, folding it over and adhering it to the back of the cardstock with Tear n’ Tape. This made the colour stand out and had a double benefit of giving me a way to adhere the Vellum.
The bird is from the Happy Holly Days stamp set in the Mini Catalogue. The Vellum background inspired me to try out the sepia watercolouring technique. I have LOVED this technique since I first came across it some years ago and it’s always been on my ‘to do’ list. Watercolouring is one of my favourite techniques and I loved colouring with Soft Suede and Early Espresso to create this effect.

I’ve combined this card with some of new favourites from the the Mini Catalogue being the Cork Specialty Paper and Kraft Paper Pack. These products just added to the natural look of my card. I pulled the threads apart at the end of the Diamond Weave ribbon for a more natural and rustic look.
Thank you so much for visiting me in Melbourne today. Please take a trip around the world and see each of our design team shaking it up! Perhaps, you would like to try one of these techniques and give something new a try.
If you have any questions about this project or the products I have used, please don’t hesitate to contact me or leave me a comment. Next on our hop is the talented Cheryll Miller.
