Welcome to the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop where we kick off the new year with a sketch challenge.
We are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators that have been gathered together by Angie McKenzie who was inspired to start up this blog hop. On the 2nd Wednesday of each month we share projects to inspire you with different themes. Our team comprises of talented crafters with different styles so there is something to pique everyone’s interest.
I would like to congratulate those members of our team who have been selected to serve on the Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team this year – Bree Renwick, Mikaela Titheridge, Teri West and Alanna Wharf. I’m so thrilled for them and can’t wait to see what they will be sharing.
Onto our sketch – I pretty much followed the design as is and featured the beautiful Perennial Lavender suite on my card.
I went with a square card and how did I determine the size of the card? Simply by the size of the envelope I had! So the finished card size is 5 1/2″ square. It’s a nice large card with plenty of space inside which would make it ideal for a group signing as well.
What I wanted to create was a vase of lavender and the vase from the Earthen Textures bundle provided that mediterranean feel I was going for. I stamped the vase in Pebbled Path ink on Fluid 100 Cardstock and added some extra shading with Smoky Slate using a Water Painter.
The flowers and the postage stamp image were also stamped on Fluid 100 Cardstock. When the image is stamped it looks quite dull but once you add water to it, the image brightens up. I really loved how the double colours of the flowers just filled out when blended with the Water Painter.
Die cut leaves were coloured individiually with Lost Lagoon, Shaded Spruce and a little Old Olive. Similarly, the leaves on the postage stamp were stamped and then I highlighted each one with additional colour using a Water Painter.
The White panel in front has been embossed with the Softy Sofisticated Embossing Folder. This stamp and embossing folder bundle is a Sale-A-Bration offering and you can get this free with an order of $180 during Sale-A-Bration.
Thank you for taking the time to visit me in Melbourne and take a look at what I’ve created. I hope you have been inspired by some aspect of it to create something.
